Peace mom Cindy Sheehan meets with Elizabeth Dole over Iraq war

(AP) September 30, 2005 - It's no surprise that North Carolina Senator Elizabeth Dole and anti-war activist Cindy Sheehan don't see eye-to-eye on the war in Iraq.

The two women met privately for ten minutes Thursday to discuss the war.

Dole's office issued a statement saying statements made by Sheehan and her political organization undermine the war on terror and are detrimental to the military. Dole is a member of the Senate Armed Services Committee.

Sheehan was more direct. She called Dole "a gentle lady" and a "warmonger," the latter a term she used to describe Arizona Senator John McCain after meeting with him on Wednesday.

Go Cindy! Love you. :loveya:

1. Those "gentle warmongers" are the most dangerous kind
They have no clue as to the horrors their actions abet

2. Go, Cindy!
She is a warmonger; and, I don't believe she has any battlefield or military experience. That would make her a big hypocrite, who sends the poor to go over and try to secure HER oil.

4. Call me crazy, but I believe this meeting was a set up...
Maybe I've grown into a cynical ogre, but I smell Rovian marketeering all over this.

I believe they're attempting to discredit Sheehan, because they see the anti-war movement picking up steam. Cindy is also attracting the "soccer mom" crowd to the anti-war effort.

The bastards needed to put their own soccer-like woman front and center--disagreeing with Cindy. They needed to show that a gentle, kind, lovely woman like Liddy is for the killing and pillaging.

Can you just see the meeting with Liddy, Rove and other neocon marketeers? "Ok, Liddy..we'll craft a soundbyte for you--which you are to say during a press conference, after you meet with Sheehan. Just go in there, hold your nose, listen and then say your lines. We'll get the major networks there."

If anything, I think this backfires. Everyone is meeting with Sheehan, except the Bubble Boy. He looks like a wussy.

6. Thanks for adding the link! I'm tying to interest people here
in getting involved in this latest campaign. They are looking for volunteers in each state in helping to set up meetings.

It puts the big question to each member of Congress. I think it's brilliant!

8. If I were Cindy
it would've taken everything I had not to slap the hell out of ol' Liddy.

9. So what do we say if they don't meet with Cindy?
Or if they do meet with Cindy? The same thing.

11. Thanks for the link
I was reading the statements on the hall of fame and the hall of shame. McCain has a lot of nerve saying our noble cause is to bring freedom to the Iraqis. This country has a history of supporting dictatorships and actually overthrowing democratically elected leaders. And now, with the mess in Iraq heading towards civil war, how in the world can anyone say we've done something right and good?

12. One could say the same thing and
have the Hall of Fame and Hall of Shame whether they met or not based on each person's statements so I really don't see what good it does to meet one way or the other. If that's what Cindy wants to do, that's fine -
