Iraq...It is all Clintons fault
A read it in a letter to the editor in our local paper from one of our soldiers serving in Iraq.
"He disbanded batallions that is why you have guardsman serving and dying in Iraq". I have heard Clinton blamed for everything under the sun at one time or another but this is a new one for me.

He goes on to say he is protecting all of our freedoms and that all the tree hugging liberals need to move to france. Why is it always France?

1. So, its not because GOP warmongers refuse to fight?
Its not because the College Republicans are too chickenshit to defend the country?

5. They blame Clinton for everything, don't they?

I guess if this type has an affair, he/she could blame Clinton for that too. Clinton influenced them. Clinton gave them the idea.
Hey, let's even recycle an old meme: Clinton made me do it!

6. they've already pre-scripted the blame game
after we leave Iraq with our tail between our legs, thye're going to say if the public had only stood behind our efforts and not effectivley encouraged the insurgents, we would have won.

Sigh.

21. Yep. Public opinion *did* lose the Vietnam war.
Vietnamese public opinion. Same thing in Iraq.

You're so right though- that's exactly what they'll say. They'll blame it all on the people they already hate: liberals. As usual.

All insurgents read Krugman and supported Kerry for president.
Oh, and they all subscribe to The Nation.

20. Oh, that's been said explicitly for monts.
AFter all, what is this war now? According to Myers this morning, it's a battle of wills.

What's the strategy for winning? Not leaving.

Why does the enemy fight? Because they are encouraged.

Notice how domestic opposition is the only thing between us and "victory". The only strategy to defeat the enemy in Iraq is for everyone to shut up. when we don't shut up, ergo, we cause the loss.

We've been set up for this since Vietnam.

27. They should be careful using that tactic

Many who are outspoken against invading Iraq are Vietnam combat vets, Gulf War 1 combat vets, etc. Scott Ritter is a prime example. I wouldn't question his patriotism if I were them.

And let's not forget commentary from some prominent conservatives when we were bombing Bosnia, which was suspiciously like a lot of things democrats are saying now. Damn traitors. :sarcasm:

11. What's especially ridiculous with this
is that the cuts that reduced the size of the armed forces started in the Bush Sr administration when Cheney was sec of defense. Cheney and Bush slashed defense spending drastically.

Of course to me, this is all irrelevant. I AGREE that the the defense budget should be slashed to the bone. What we need to do is STOP ATTACKING COUNTRIES THAT HAVE DONE US NO HARM!!!!!!

12. Military Downsizing Began Under Bush I & Cheney
The biggest cuts were done starting in 1990! Unless Clinton could run the Pentagon as being Governor of Arkansas, then he musta been some powerful dude before any of us knew it.

This wingnut seems to forget that Mr. Crashcart pushed for the privitization of the military...taking those grunt jobs and turned them over to outsourcers like Kellog, Brown & Root and their Haliburton subsidiary.

Those people cringe when you mention Halliburton. They know how much of a leech that company is and attempt to paper it over with American flags. Hearing from returning Iraqi vets, the friction between the regular military and the contractors is getting as bas as the friction with the local Iraqis...isn't it nice we created a rear guard...and we get to pay twice for it?

This is part of avoiding the inevitable...this will be known as "Bush's War"...and historians will judge it in very harsh terms. You're seeing reconstructionist history in the making...the denials and excuses we're so used to seeing the immoral right wing goes running to when they are caught in having to be accountable.

Remember, these are also the goons who blame Clinton for Ruby Ridge.

13. and what kills me about privatizing the mess halls and clean-up
is that, had they been soldiers doing those jobs, if they base came under attack, they were trained to pick up weapons and fight.

Now, not only are the "cooking and cleaning" crews not able to help fight - they tie the troops hands, because they have to be PROTECTED.

Real smart - put hundreds of over-paid civilians in a war zone instead of soldiers. Way to stragetize Cheney (word misspelled on purpose).

16. They Also Bitch About Women In The Military
These goons live in a perpetual Rambo movie. All wars are won by pushing buttons and blowing people away. Diplomacy is for the weak.

The concept is you can buy loyalty...money is the universal solvent. By throwing billions around Iraq, we've sure built one fine "democracy" there, haven't we.

Not only has the contracting wasted billions of our tax dollars and created a whole new tier of war profiteers, it has torn apart the basic infrastructure of a self-contained military. The fiasco in the Gulf states shows how big these holes have become.

Yep...we sure are safer today...:scared:

17. You haven't heard?
Clinton was also responsible for all the problems in Vietnam, was involved in the Kennedy assassination, tipped off the Cubans regarding the Bay of Pigs disaster, stopped Patton from invading Russia with the German army, which led to the Cold War, was the radar operator asleep at the switch in Hawaii on Sunday morning, Dec. 7, 1941, caused the Great Depression because of his fiscal excesses, and so on and so forth... and, to top it off, he put the final nail in the cross when Jesus was crucified.

14. France has foreign policy that conflicts with ours
French policies and interests in Africa, the Middle East, and the Balkans have often been in conflict with US policies. Particularly, French contracts for energy - provision of nuclear power technology, exploitation of petroleum resources among others - have been made in opposition to the interests of US petroleum companies.

French domestic economic and social policy, considered dangerously left-wing and socialist by American standards, has been more successful at providing a high standard of living for French citizens than our policies have been for Americans. We have been told that France's social policies are driving the economy of the Republic into the ground for decades, and yet France still moves on. This is an embarrassment for both the right and the left in America - the right because it shows their arguments are unfounded, and the left because it shows that success is possible.

As we rush toward the extremes of capitalism and a single-superpower foreign policy, France with her moderate capitalist economy and shared exercise of power becomes as distant from us as the Soviet Union was at the close of the Second World War. As absurd as it sounds, we may be gearing up for cold war with France. The people are being prepared.

19. France last year
France, shockingly, attracted more foreign investment than the US... granted, both countries were behind China. But, if you were a business and wanted to invest, you could go to France and not have to worry about the additional cost of worker health care, or you could go to the US and either not pay it (and have unhealthy & unhappy workers) or pay a hefty additional price tag to help cover medical insurance.

18. See, the only problem with the war is if you have to fight it.
So the guy writes, "Hey, if not for Clinton, somebody else's family would be sending their kin to die there", implicitly arguing that the only REAL problem with the war is not getting out of fighting it.

Nobody seems to be congratulating the national guardsmen for the honor of going to Iraq.

Nobody seems to acknowledge that the war would be bad even if someone else has to fight it.

All the prowar crowd can offer is a chance for all but a few of us to be chickenhawks.

It does not matter how rotten stinking horrible the Repuke clowns are looking....Clinton. There's no end to it. It's the blow job.

BTW...Soldier man...shit for Monkeybrains has been in office for five years. He sent you there. I think Afghanistan had more to do with not being prepared for MonkeyWar's disastrous Iraq situation. Also, you can rebuild a 800 man unit in a short amount of time. WTF is wrong with you. I never had to purchase my flack jacket either.

24. It's amazing what Clinton's army did for W
especially when you consider that all the homophobes deserted after Clinton "allowed" the gays to stay in with "don't ask, don't tell".

Seems that a lot of Repukes were not too interested in serving under Clinton.

So, when Bush had to "go to war with the Army you've got" in Afghanistan, they did a pretty good job . . .

And there hasn't been a major influx of "loyal, patriotic Republicans" signing up since 9/11 . . .
