I can't wait to see how America handles this one! I mean if one more bigot, one more racist; gets away with degrading, belittling and bashing African Americans I think I may run naked down Constitution Avenue!! Funny thing: America treats blacks like we are invisible until we commit a crime, make over a millions dollars, break a record dunking a ball, making a touchdown or say something remarkable about something we should know absolutely nothing about. There are many of us out here that take it extremely personally when we are pigeonholed and categorized by stereotypes. Not all of us fit into the box that America so lovingly squeezes us into. Some of us would prefer fish to fried chicken and get up and go to work each and every day to make a living. The irony in this for me is that for all practical purposes, I should be one of the statistics as should my 3 children that I am raising alone. I fought with myself each time I got pregnant about whether or not to bring a child into this world. Especially an illegitimate African American one. But God gave me the courage to endure and persevere and I am glad that all of my children came into this world. I don't subscribe to the belief that it can't be done and that they have to end up a certain way just because politicians, the media, and statistics say so. Mine are gifted, college bound, athletic, respectful, drug free, and more importantly ALIVE!!! If I had aborted them, I would have done the world a disservice, just as Mr. Bennett is doing each and every time he opens up his trap.
