DeLay: "... a modest, decent and considerate man."
My local paper had a reprint of NY Times' columnist David Brooks latest piece of trash. (Can't link, as it directs you to the NY Times and you need an online subscription to access it.)

In defending DeLay, Brooks writes: "Rep. DeLay never was the ruthless tyrant that news media reports made him out to be. He's actually a modest, decent and considerate man. But he is willing to sacrifice all else for the team."

On TV appearances, Brooks comes across as civil and sane. But anyone who could write this paragraph about DeLay is either the most naive fool ever born, an out-and-out GOP whore, or perhaps both.

When, oh when will this avalanche of right-wing pig shit ever end?

5. To me David Brooks comes across as somewhat manic and
full of shit. That nervous laughter and constant grinning have made me nickname him "Tweak".

A whore by any other name....is still a whore.

6. Yeah, "modest, decent and considerate"
Those are the first things that spring to MY mind when I see Bugman's arrogant and condescending mug on my TV screen. "Golly," I say to myself as Bugman bites the head off another live kitten with blood and gore dripping off his weak little chin, "but doesn't Tom DeLay look modest, decent and considerate?"

U.S. House Majority Leader Tom DeLay's visit to Reliant Park this morning offered him a glimpse of what it's like to be living in shelter.

While on the tour with top administration officials from Washington, including U.S. Secretary of Labor Elaine L. Chao and U.S. Treasury Secretary John W. Snow, DeLay stopped to chat with three young boys resting on cots.

The congressman likened their stay to being at camp and asked, "Now tell me the truth boys, is this kind of fun?"

They nodded yes, but looked perplexed.

15. Charlie: Agreed. My immediate reaction was
that it belonged in the comics section.

Then again, I think even Gary Trudeau would have resisted the temptation to put that statement in "Doonesbury."

13. Here's a theory.
Perhaps Karl Rove controls everything that people like Brooks hear and read and view and they are never exposed to truth, ever.

He must not even read wikipedia!

20. I am sure David Brooks thinks that Limpballs is also
a modest, unassuming man. Brooks is a total nutcase IMO. He drank the koolaide a long time ago. Never read his column anymore. No content.

14. He's actually demanding others sacrifice all out for the team.
In return for his largesse, he makes demands of loyalty and discipline.

It's not exactly the job descript of a modest, decent man. Maybe not ruthless tyrant, since all he is doing is demanding in full the repayment of his help in the past. At least, no more ruthless or tyrannical than any other capo of a secret, semilegal network of obligations.

17. On whose scale?
Modest? Don't think so, even according to Go To Tom.

Decent? Another subjective term.

Considerate? Sure! If you have $100,000 to give and a voter registration card marked ($R$)

The only thing close to truth in that statement is that he's a man, but truly modest, decent, and considerate men don't want to have anything to do with him.

19. A modest, decent man?
According to whom?

You can imagine my feeling when I saw the story of Tom Delay's indictment on the Wednesday evening. You see, I've was on a two day trip to the Hudson River valley. Delay's lawyer was on "Larry King Live" spinning these charges as bs. Hell, the lawyer did more skating around than the cast of Stars On Ice.

Tom Delay- a man who never knew an ethical violation he wasn't guilty of.
