Tom Delay is a candy-ass.
The nerve of the guy, pissing and moaning and playing the 'victim'.

This guy took hundreds of thousands of dollars from corporations, funneled it through the RNC and spread it to candidates for the sole purpose of trashing democracy in Texas. Do let's not forget that in the process he feathered his own family's nest to the tune of half a million dollars.

That's a half of a million reasons why he doesn't have the right to play victim to anyone.

Pussy.

5. Delay has the stench of corruption all over him
Sorry - but there aren't too many folks here who think that he's not guilty at this point.

Welcome to DU. :hi:

6. Good question...
Edited on Fri Sep-30-05 12:58 PM by TlalocW
How about you start asking that question in regards to everyone in Gitmo who has been held there without knowing what charges are against them or being able to talk to an attorney?

11. So you are saying
That if the right behaves wrongly, then the left is justified in doing the same? I disagree. One side needs to hold itself higher than the other.

28. Oh, the left is suffering like mad for being ethical - believe me...
And this is DU - we don't have to live by the same standards as the politicians and judges.

He's in the top 10 of most hated people on DU. If you care about his right here you will simply not get much agreement and likely be attacked. You asked for it!

35. "DOING THE SAME?"
Sending people to prison without trial vs. saying bad things about a politico in a web board. Yeeeeeah.

Put down the crack pipe. Please.

36. No, but I am saying is
Tom Delay has most likely gotten himself into a mess of his own making - he has access to the best lawyers he can afford and gets to sleep in a nice warm bed at night and eat whatever he wants to. The justice system is working the way it's supposed to with him for the most part - in fact, it's treating him a lot nicer than it would someone else who's been indicted. Our pipe dreams of Tom having to do time in jail and being some Bubba's girlfriend is not going to affect how this plays out in the legal system.

However, we have a good number of people imprisoned without evidence, without having been before a jury of their peers, without being told the charges against them or being allowed to talk to an attorney.

You need to pull your head out and see which is the problem here - it's not our collective hoping that Tom Delay will go down.

8. His defense is not that he didn't take money from corporations...
...and send it back to candidates. His defense is that in his opinion that was legal.

In Texas it is illegal for corporations to give money straight to candidates. That stems from the Railroad and Cattle Baron days. What Delay did was the "Texas Two-Step" of taking the money (190,000.00 in this particular instance but millions more in other transactions) from the corporations, sending it the RNC, then getting checks back to candidates in the exact amount he sent in. His position is that the extra step of sending the money to the RNC made it a legal transaction.

Kinda like it is illegal to buy drugs, but if you give the money to your friend, and he buys the drugs, then gives you the drugs for 'free', then YOU haven't bought them...get it?

He never denied what I posted.

Secondly, he paid his close family members $500,000.00 for their "help" in his campaign for re-election. Again, probably perfectly legal but stinks to high heaven.

10. Yeah right...
he is innocent until proven guilty. Look, even if this fuckface walks, we ALL know he is dirty, just like the rest of the criminal bastards in the whitehouse, the illegal war being at the top of the list. So you can keep your sense of fair play with these animals to yourself.

It is not "if I don't agree with you, keep my mouth shut?", it is more like "do not talk about being fair to criminals that rig the game".

13. Under the guidelines of the "New" Supreme Court ......

The concept of innocent until proven guilty is an archaic concept and is no longer valid. From now on, an accusation is sufficient.

That is all.

no thanks. Delay's strength came from his ability to get huge wads of cash from corporations. We have Dems who play that game. They are called the DLC/DNC.

You want more DLC/DNC dems?

32. You Fight Fire with Fire and Take No Prisoners. Secondly you are wrong...
Delay is very focused and driven. Yes, the biggest criminal in DC political history, BUT he makes it happen in DC and locally. He pushed through 300 bills in the last session and has been a Papa Bush Texas Family Mafia kingpin in TOTALLY destorying the Democratic Party and winning the last two Prez elections and MANY Republican seats.

Let's make sure we separate business and emotions here.
