Nancy Pelosi, the top House Democrat, pushed the case that DeLay's alleged ethical lapses point to decrepitude within the governing party.

"The Republicans are crumbling," Pelosi said at a press conference in Washington Thursday.

"They are corrupt. They act in a corrupt way. They have a culture of corruption here. It is about cronyism. It is about favoritism to their friends in contracting, cronyism in hiring, it is about incompetence.

"And that," she said, "is from here to the White House."

Democrats said the scandal that upended DeLay's political career is compounded by ethics allegations facing the top Senate Republican Bill Frist, accused in an insider trading scandal of selling stock shortly before its price plummeted.

18. Yep
She's the best! I've been following her since Bush's State of the Union earlier this year. She's so classy in her presence as well and how she states things. I hope next year she is the House leader again and we're the majority and then we can impeach the bastard lead by her, Reid, Kerry and Conyers!

5. I saw that briefing
She said it many times, was challenged repeatedly by an obstinate reporter, and held fast to her contention that the Republicans are crumbling.

She meant that shit :)

6. Really, who can say that Democrats aren't attacking?
Unfortunately, that probably won't get played on the nightly news. But the fact remains, the Democratic leadership is out there being quite vocal. Reid, Kerry and Dean as well. I say good job Democrats.

and dont talk for the people. :sarcasm:

i guess we are suppose to document all the times the dems do speak out, so we can just copy and paste instead of having to try and remember all the times, to tell our fellow dems who so rovian attack their own

19. This is one of those good things to see and repeat
A lot of times, any examples of Democratic spine just sort of disintegrate into the ether, because we don't have paid media mouthpieces to keep repeating and repeating things, as we've seen the Republicans do with the likes of Maggie Gallagher and Armstrong Williams.

If we're going to keep stories about strong Democratic responses in the public mind, it will be up to us.

this new term. all kinds of dems saying all kinds of things, challenging like they have enver before. harch and brave. yet i see dems dismiss them more than any other group. maybe we need to look within our own party to in creating the dem party, that which it isnt

21. more...
"Tom DeLay and Bill Frist are not alone in their shady style of governing -- it is a systemic problem in the Republican Party that goes far beyond these two men," the website read.

"The Republican Party has betrayed the trust of the American people, and it is time that they are thrown out."

22. The B*** Cleptocracy is ending like the fall of the Roman Empire:
They're running out of people to rip off, and that's all these babies know how to do, so, they're turning on each other and eating their own young.

First, they ripped off working america, and poor america and the middle class. Then, they ripped off corporate america, a.k.a. Enron/Worldcom.
Then, they ripped off third world countries, and exhausted that cash cow,
Then, they ripped off Wall street, and that's over. Other countries got sick of us ripping them off, so, the Neocons decided to rip off the middle east oil reserves, and all these lies were necessary to pull that off.

And now that even that's not paying off, they're feeding off each other.

Republican Cannibalism.

Couldn't happen to a nastier bunch of liars. What a great day.

Gives me hope.

"Culture of Corruption" should be yelled from the rooftops. Along with "Are you better off now that you were 5 years ago?"

26. But- but- the free market does things more efficiently!!
I cannot believe we have all these supposedly "free market" advocates STILL arguing for corporate deregulation. This is what it gets you: a system that runs on cronyism.

27. So make it stick in 2006.
Don't be a spineless idiot until then -- attack, attack, attack!

(I address this to all Dems in Congress, not to Pelosi.)
