I really like Ed. I know he's not everyone's cup of tea, and maybe he seems too centrist for some here, but he's almost a Green compared to Al Franken, and he speaks common sense in language that ANYONE can understand. He's also been catching the talk radio world on fire, with more stations adding him every week as long as I've been listening to him.

He's been a HUGE supporter of Cindy Sheehan, and he had her on his program almost every day for a long time.

This guy's really gonna connect with former Limbaugh fans tired of that nut's drooling Oxycontin ravings. He's gonna knock 'em over, just you wait and see.

He talks like an ordinary guy - and I think that he sounds like Limpballs is going to be an advantage. He extols small-town values and lays it on the line how Bush and his cronies are not good for rural America (and a lot of troops come from rural America). He can talk football, car racing, fishing, hunting, etc.

And he has a lot of Dems on - I think when troops hear these Dem pols actually speak what they say will connect.

When I was in Okinawa, we were subjected to limpballs and it irritated me to no end. When I wrote them about dumping that fucker and getting something at least SLIGHTLY more moderate, they were very polite in their reply. They basically said they play a numbers game. Whatever has the high ratings, gets on the air. Obviously one of two things has happened since then...either the numbers have changed or their policies have changed.

ED!! He was talking for quite awhile about the success the show has had in the two years since it began. Over a hundred stations. He wanted to thank all of his listeners and then he said he had a special announcement and he just said it. Armed Forces Radio will get an opposing viewpoint to "Slant Head" starting Oct. 17th Ed Shultz will be carried on Armed Forces Radio.
Trust me, I was surprised to hear it, but I did hear it!! And I screamed!!

living abroad, Armed Forces Radio is listened to by a lot of expats, some locals as well as the U.S. military of course. For the last few years the evening talk show line-up has been Rush, followed by Dr. Laura -- in the morning there is Paul Harvey follwed by Richard Dobson with "Focus on the Family". This will make for a wonderful change.
