More credible than Delay: Jury Foreman comes to Earle's defense (video)
Wiliam Gibson Speaks out for the Delay Indictment

In his own words Grand jury foreman William Gibson tells us why he isn't too happy with all the Ronnie Earle bashing going on since the Delay indictment went down.

"We would not have handed down an indictment. We would have no-billed the man, if we didn't feel there was sufficient evidence," said Gibson.

I don't think he took too kindly to the fact that the Ken Mehlman talking point is that "You can indict a ham sandwich."

AWESOME!

One quote from the man: “It wasn’t Mr. Earle that indicted the man; it was the 12 members of the Grand Jury.”

Sounds like he was quoting me :P

3. You can only indict a ham sandwich if reasonable evidence exists
to prove the commission of a crime by said ham sandwich.

I submit that in DeLay's case, Mehlman should have used the term "pork sandwich."

4. DeLay was just following the Republican formula for responsibility:
Attack, smear and demean everyone who even questions you.

Nice to see citizen Gibson won't stand down in the face of the criminal tactics of DeLay and his party.

We've all got to stand up to these criminals and bullies, and support the whistle-blowers, uncorrupted judges, and members of the legal profession. They are the ones on the front lines for us.

16. Yes
It's about time we fight them back. They can't get away with this crap or they'll always do that and people in the future can do it.

7. Mr Gibson also said that they did invite DeLay to tell his side
However, DeLay was advised by his counsel not to speak before the GJ.

DeLay was the one who said he had not been asked to tell his side, then his own attorney said he had and was advised not to. DeLay is caught in yet another lie it would appear.

17. Oh but I thought
DeLay was such a good Christian as Libby stated at that "Justice Sunday" thing? Lying is supposed to be a big no-no.

13. GJ was made up of repukes, Dems, and Independents
http://www.chron.com/cs/CDA/ssistory.mpl/front/3376104

He would not identify other grand jurors or say whether the 12-person grand jury was made up of more Democrats than Republicans. His name was made public because as foreman, he had to sign the indictment.

"We had Republicans and Democrats and independents on that grand jury," Gibson said. "They were all professional people. I won't say where they work, but there were state employees and federal employees."

State District Judge Mike Lynch, who was in charge of the grand jury, said that the names of the other grand jurors could not be released.

The issue of whether grand jury names are public information is under consideration by Texas Attorney General Greg Abbott.
