In light of Bill Bennett's
whining defense of his remarks about aborting all black babies in America -- i.e., that his genocidal fantasy was "taken out of context" because critics didn't quote the rest of the passage -- I would just like to note here for the record that when I criticized Bennett for his outburst, I did indeed quote the entire passage and put it in precisely the context that Bennett himself now claims for it: a rhetorical device used to illustrate a point entirely outside the subject of race relations. But, as the earlier post pointed out, this "context" is no mitigation of the remark's violent -- and most unvirtuous -- immorality: it is, in fact, an intensification of it.
