Did he ever change his tone. Not a couple of days ago he was talking about building strong rules into NAFTA to prevent such things from happening. He must have learned a little bit about NAFTA!
Mexican president pledges to support Canada on NAFTA panel decisions
VANCOUVER (CP) - Mexico, Canada's other NAFTA partner, gave its strongest backing yet Friday to Canada's position in the softwood lumber trade dispute with the United States.
On the final day of his Canadian visit, President Vicente Fox said repeatedly Mexico fully supported Ottawa's demand that the dispute-resolution process of the North American Free Trade Agreement be respected.
Although he never mentioned lumber directly, Fox first told B.C. business executives Friday morning, then a luncheon of Canadian and American business and political heavyweights hosted by Martin, that "Mexico fully supports Canada's position to make sure that the decisions of the NAFTA panels in the settlement of disputes are upheld."
"I believe the position and statement I've just made is sufficiently clear," Fox said when asked to clarify if he was talking about softwood.
