Dean was first out of the gate in support of Davis
It didn't appear to help Davis much in the end. But Dean was the first to appear by Davis's side, and then the other Dem candidates did the same. Maybe Dean is not so popular in California?

1. Your post makes absolutely no sense
Davis didn't do much to help himself until the last few weeks.
It has nothing to do with Dean or any other Dem.

If it did, how do you explain the Clinton Factor not helping Davis, despite the huge crowds he still draws everywhere he goes ??

And please realize, theres more than a few fishy things that coulda went on behind the GOP scenes as far as the vote counting goes.

2. This has nothing to do with Dean.
Or Clark or the others. Davis was a loser, especially in La La land. People saw stars. California went 60% for Al Gore a few years ago. The dems are there. They just didn't like Davis, especially compared to the Governator.

3. That is truly warped. Blaming Dean for AS's takeover?
So is Dean now to be blamed for everything the way Clinton used to be?

Dean is incredibly popular in California..

4. Dean, Clark, Edwards, Sharpton....
all appeared with Davis to campaign against the recall. All have their supporters and detractors in California just like in any other state. Try again.

12. You Are Absolutely Right.
I did leave off Kerry and why because I didn't know about it. And why is that, because the poor execuse for the media we have in this country was too focused on Arnie, the Movie Star. And I used to live in California!!!!!!!

11. Well,
Clinton got way more coverage than Dean. Guess he's not popular in CA either. Do you realize how much you discredit yourself when you say something like this? You make insightful comments from time to time, but they're so wrapped up in irrational Dean hatred that I no longer even bother.

16. The only coverage I saw of any of these guys on the day they were in CA
was of Dean. The played an entire soundbite.

I only saw Clinton in clips days later, and they didn't play his statement.

Sharpton got a ton of great radio coverage from the alternative media, but I'd be surprised if more than 50K bay area residents heard much of it.

The reason the media gave Dean lots of coverage, but not the rest, is because they knew he was divisive -- that he'd get out as many Republicans as Democrats.

But I also think that they told Dean not to do anything to encourage that, becuase his soundbite was very tepid.

5. Oh good,
Someone's starting a flame fest. I've been thinking of starting one myself just to cheer people up. (Was that your motivation?) Alas, starting flame fests is not my style. I wish you'd come up with something a little less silly and easy to refute. It's not even a challenge.

behind Davis's loss. Does Dean lose stock because of this failure, and is this a reflection of his possible coattails? I am concerned.

13. Ouinnox,
Please see my post about Clinton's high profile campaigning. But to answer your question, I honestly don't think we can read anything about coattails or popularity regarding any of the candidates in reference to the CA debacle.

14. Wait a minute. We've been told that Dean wasn't the first to do anything.
Good try, though.

15. Oh yeah. spin it anyway you want bucko...
Dean said it best!

"Today's recall election in California was not about Gray Davis or Arnold Schwarzenegger. This recall was about the frustration so many people are feeling about the way things are going. All across America, George Bush's massive tax cuts for the wealthy are undermining state budgets, causing cutbacks in services and increases in local property taxes. Were recalls held in every state, it's quite possible that 50 governors would find themselves paying the price for one president's ruinous national economic policies. Tonight the voters in California directed their frustration with the country's direction on their incumbent governor. Come next November, that anger might be directed at a different incumbent...in the White House." To Dean and our Campaign! :toast: :kick:
