Davis was somewhat unfairly blamed for the troubles of California, but Californians still dislike Bush. When things don't get better under Schwarzengroper (because we all know they won't), Bush will still get the ultimate blame. And ask the people of Minnesota how they feel about Jesse "the mind" Ventura. He would have gotten his ass kicked like it was kicked in 'Predator' and 'The Running Man' if he ran for guvernator again. Schwarzengroper has a six month shelf life at best. All Barbra Steisand has to do is hold one final concert (again) to fund another $1.3 mil recall.

Davis was a victim of Pete Wilson's failed policies & Enron, and Davis came out smelling like a turd.

But Schwarzengroper is in deep shit now. The budget is still a mess--mostly because of lost jobs and the "jobless recovery," and Schwarzengroper will be forced to raise taxes and cut gov't jobs and services even if he doesn't repeal the "car tax."

Ahr-nold wasn't much of a candidate; he couldn't "debate" unless he knew the script ahead of time. He also has been as clear as mud about "his" vision for Kal-i-forn-ya. The Terminator will be a lousy governor. Then California can terminate him. To quote Linda Hamilton in 'The Terminator,' "You're terminated, fucker."

Yes, the people of California acted like children--they were attracted to the CELEBRITY of a 'roided up sexual predator who couldn't act his way out of a paper bag. These are the people who acquitted OJ of double homicide and awarded pedophile Roman Polanski an Oscar. These are the people who allow millionaires and billionaires to pay basically zilch on their property taxes.

But it is not the end of the world. Get a grip. Besides, the Cubs lost last night. So there is a God.

CA has a fucked up constitution to allow this crap to occur in the first place.

Some good news--I may be party to a suit which states the concealed weapons carry law passed by the MO Rethug legislature is unconstitutional. It seems that Missouri's constitution prohibits its citizens from carrying concealed weapons, and the constitution may only be changed/amended by public referendum--not by the legislature.

In addition, the republican in the legislature made it impossible for Davis to effect a real solution to the problem and forced him into letter the car tax come back and they are rewarded for their scurilous conduct.

I think it is quite a watershed event in that a totally unqualified man was allowed to run his campaign based only on soundbites and the voters confused him with the parts he plays in the movies. Never in history has something like this happened.

My faith in the voters of California was completely destroyed.

Then the REAL screwing begins.

Watch Ahnuld do almost NOTHING about the problems in CA
(well, except a few band-aid measures designed for style

and NOTHING controversial in the next year. No abortion bans
for example. Nothing to distract while a little Bush money comes
into CA to make people think he's not all bad.

It's all about 2004. I'm thinking a terrorist attack on the Cali coast
sometime next spring or summer might be on someone's agenda.

I just see Ahnuld doing a whole lot of nothing in the next year,
and every screwup will be a) This Is Gray Davis' fault, b) He's
New, Cut Him Some Slack Will You? or c) This Is The Fault Of The
Democrats In Sacremento; If You Vote THEM Out And Give Ahnuld
A Majority, He Can REALLY "Clean House"!!!!

And the Dems in Sacremento won't fight back. They won't want
to be accused of c) above. Just like in the US House/Senate. No
matter how bad B*sh screw ups the economy, our foreign policy,
whatever, the reason for any and every failure is the Democrats
'thwarted' a Great Plan.

The GOP is NEVER held accountable or responsible. Look at Enron/
Ahnuld. GOP was untouched. Look at the war. Yeah, his poll numbers,
MEANINGLESS a year before the election, are down, but a little good
news on the economy and the war next year, or another terrorist
attack, and Our Great Leader will save us. Who besides Du'ers will say
"this is this morons SECOND attack in 3 yrs!"? NO ONE. People will say
"save us Great Leader! We'll give you anything you want!".

When was the last time the GOP was punished at the ballot box?
Good thing the Cubs are playing; it can remind us of their mantra:

"Wait Till Next Year".

We all know a terror attack, a 2% rise in the Dow in October '04 or
a 1% lowering of unemployment after next summer and Bush is IN
in 2004. No one CARES but a few malcontents. Most people either
sit on their hands and don't vote or think it's 'funny' to vote for
Ahnuld.

The lesson here is you literally have to commit vehicular homicide
to have the GOP turn against you, but if you commit the 'crime' of
being forced to accept Pete Wilson's contracts with Enron, and forced
to accept an economy deliberately sabotaged by the Bush Administration,
you're GONE, loser!

Now, all you Dems, play nice with your rapist...if you fight back against

6. Davis didn't do anything to help himself

From my perspective (not in California) Davis was a dull bureaucrat. If you have nothing else to offer you're going down in flames when the bureaucracy can't fix the problems.

As much as we don't like to admit it politics has become as much about personality as policy. It's always been my number one objection to Dean. I don't like to watch him. I like what he says but he just reminds me of every arrogant doctor I've ever known telling me that he knows everything and not to ask questions. (No need to come to Dean's defense here guys. I understand just how shallow I'm being. And as a disclairmer, I'm for Clark BUT I felt that way about Dean before I knew Clark was considering running.)

I don't know Davis but it seems to me he put the Dems in Cali in a horrid position of having to rally to him when he didn't have the ability to rally up anyone on his own. For that I'm damned proud of all the Dems in Cali who took up the cause and worked so hard for the cause.

The lesson is not fixed ballot boxes or rampaging republicans (remember less than 30% of Dems liked Davis in the end). The lesson is: what do Reagan, Clinton and Arnold have that Gore, Mondale, Dukakis and (IMHO) Dean don't.

8. Here's another take ...

Arnold will get a free ride as California is run into the ground.

Sound familiar ? Well that is what is happening with AWOL.

While his number have dipped below 50%, he is still getting a big free ride. There are plenty of people in this country who still view the mess we are in right now is the fallout of the most corrupt administration in US history (and perhaps of all the universe), Bill Clinton. The efforts of AWOL, has prevented the fall of the US to Albonia.

Arnold will enjoy the same free ride. Even if Arnold makes the situation worse (which is likely), it will only strengthen the argument of how bad Davis was. See, not even Arnold could fix it.

I'm afraid that this is the start of the end of hopes of regaining the WH in 2004.

Rove/Bush have finally won.
