California voted for a well liked personality that was moderate.

To me, that would be the worst.

I think Arnold may do a great deal of harm to the Republican coalition in the end. You could see it in the final vote tallies, and it will be more prounounced in the real Red States. They will expect Bush to criticize S. at every turn.

was a "manipulation, which degenerated into chaos." But, we aren't a nation of Dolts. Some are Dolts, but not the Whole Nation. Look, we here, aren't. :D We gotta Take Back the Media!

4. I'm afraid the sad truth is, the MAJORITY of people in this nation...

ARE dolts! A fact that's seems to be confirmed with great regulariy these days. How I wish it were otherwise, and I think we're all kidding ourselves if we keep trying to deny this, and not recognize that it is something we must find ways to deal with! Pretend that we are trying to operate a democracy within maybe a 1st or 2nd grade class - or perhaps an insane asylum!

That's the bottom line in 21st century Amerika. Television and AM radio are devices for calculated and systematic thought control. No one with more than half a brain would ever vote for an actor with no political experience to be governor of their state, or any major office. The only reason Schwarzenegger won this election is because of his popularity and notoriety as an actor. The debacle in California makes me ashamed to be an American. The whole world is now laughing at us, and they should be.

We have a long, hard fight ahead of us against wealthy and powerful enemies who are deliberately brainwashing our people with technology, not to mention stealing our votes with black boxes. But what's done is done. Let's get up and go out and kick some ass. Democracy, our future, and our children's future, depend on us.

The whole world is still laughing at us. Laughing through their tears that is. They've been laughing/crying since the selection of the war monger. I still can't believe what happened in California. In no way did I imagine that my home state would ever again elect another third rate actor. I'm happy to report that my family memebers in California voted against the recall and didn't vote for Ahnuld. :bounce:

7. The party leadership

must share a hefty part of the responsibility. Let's face it: the Democratic party leadership has increasingly lost touch about what real every Americans are all about and to their credit and it now appears the repugs have been better at keeping their ears to the ground as far as gauging what the public is all about--stupid, uninformed, hungry or whatever one chooses to think.

Beginning with the Clinton campaign the strategy to have candidates look and sound almost like republicans has I think been a fatal error. Bipartisanship--look at wimps like Daschle, Gephardt, Pelosi et al--has also meant that Democrats don't look as if they stand for anything except maybe staying in office. And if we don't stand for anything what the hell do we have to offer? Bottom line: Arnold offered the public something--we can't understand what it is, but clearly the repugs and their ilk did.

The Democratic Party has an enormous job ahead of having to build again from the ground up--and very quickly too if we aren't going to have another embarrassing defeat in 2004. . .which is why Terry Macauliffe needs to step aside.

so let's not blame "stupid" people . . .we Dems are supposed to be "for the people"
as misguided as they are.
