But I am guessing that, even if he believes in liberal social issues, he will not do a damn thing to protect them. He will be too busy being a whore for the right wing.

He served as governor from 1983-1991. But even Wilson was anti-immigran and pro-death penalty. And Davis was pro-eeath penalty too. Californians are socially liberal on abortion, and perhaps gay rights. But there are plenty of other social issues on which Californians are anything but liberal.

6. also an east-west issue....
Take a look at the county map on the CA Sec. State's recall election web site. It closely mirrors the voter party affiliation map. The democrats (and the majority no on recall counties) are clustered in a narrow strip along the west coast, basically one county deep. The rest of the state is pretty staunchly repig.
