This was posted on bartcop and refers to someone who heard Clark speak in Tulsa last night (Oct. 7).
Can someone get the transcript? I don't know what venue it was...

"i was particularly glad to hear his answer to the question "how will we know our votes are counted correctly?"

2. I checked on this...

some months ago. Actually, when Bev and crew had first issued solid papers.

I gathered up the most relevant info and sent out a package to ALL of the candidates and the DNC. I was able to check with the draftClark people to see if Clark was aware of BBV. Their reply was "yes", that he was very aware and concerned about many aspects of secure voting in America.

Did anyone else ship out info? Did you receive any replies?

I'm having the same problem. I just take up for both of them and promote them when I can, and when they do good things, which with KUCINICH, is all the time. Clark has some catching up to do; but, I'm willing to give him a chance. I like him, too.

DK has co-sponsored the Rush Holt Bill, and I expect that the Bill that Dennis is working on right now will be very comprehensive.

All over america, people are expressing to me their concerns about honest elections, about election technologies, about the ownership of voting machine suppliers, about the potential for fraud...all of which can undermine our democracy. Here's what we can do: we can organize in every community across this country into citizen groups of individuals with technical expertise in computer programming, systems design, and working knowledge of elections. These precinct activists can begin immediately to create a template for securing the 2004 vote. The elements of such a program might include: taking action to gain access to inspect the technology, to learn what safeguards have been put in place to make sure that no coflicts of interests are involved, and to make sure there are no problems with the chain of custody. After the forum was over, I had a chance to talk one on one with a few of the candidates. I asked congressman Dennis Kucinich about voting theft. What's the point of running for office if you know the votes are going to be stolen like we know they were in Florida and like they probably were in Nebraska, Georgia and Texas?

Kucinich replied that he’s introducing a bill to deal with this in congress. That's great news. It will require that all voting software be owned and operated by the government, that there be a paper trail and that all records will be accessible. It is absolutely essential that this be fully in place and operational before the presidential elections.

11. Whenever I receive a request

...for a donation from the DNC, I return it without funds, but with a note requesting them to come out against BBV. As long as we are open to election theft, what will my money, my hardwork, and my vote mean in the end?

I vote with a pencil and paper; however, knowing that my vote will abso-funkin-lutely be counted in my small town, still leaves it meaningless in a stolen national election.

20. Zorra, someone told me something interesting about Special K

Some kind of drug is called that. I had used that term and thought it would be good for the campaign and ran it past my family and one of my very knowledgeable young adults informed me that this would not be a good handle for my candidate.

Do you know about this, or has anyone else told you this. I can't remember the drug.

13. Clark in Tulsa

I was there.

I found out that he would be in town at a link from DU. He spoke first at a local union building, then at a fund-raising meeting in the very large backyard of a house in the older, fancy home area (near the Philbrook Art Museum...originally the home of one of the Phillips brothers of Phillips Petroleum).

People near me estimated the attendance at between 200-250. I believe the speech was recorded.

Clark gave a fairly standard speech from what I've read about his speeches here at DU. Then he took 4-5 questions. AND...I asked the last question about the voting machines. I did it primarily as the result of all the info about Diebold, etc., and the reports of problems in the recall that I found here at DU.

15. Re the DNC....

I happened to catch part of the final day of the DNC fall meeting on C-Span. I didn't catch Donna Brazile's exact title, but she has something to do with voting...and she made special mention of demanding a voter-verifiable paper trail.

So they're hearing us, guys!

But yes, I'd like to see the DNC and ALL the candidates make this a major issue.
