So, Bush's "DC-9/11" Movie didn't do a whole lot, huh.

I'm wondering if it'll be a freebie, sent out to the party faithful next year--kind of like those 'Omega Code' movies are for fundies.

What do you guys think?

1. Well, it did enough
FReepers see it as a nonfiction account of what happened on 9/11, and use it to refute "liberal lies spread by the media".

2. LOL! The "Red Dawn" of the millennium!
In the video game Vice City, there's a radio commercial for a gun store in which the announcer says they'll be having a screening 'of the documentary, Red Dawn.' It's hilarious!

3. I still think they should have done it as a musical ...
Kind of like the "Singing Detective". At least that would have upped the production values a bit.

I saw the movie recently (thanks to DUer Chris B. who sent me a tape) -- I have to say, it's not even convincing propaganda. The director/writer couldn't make up their minds about whether it should be a straight re-enactment combined with real news footage, or a dramatic Dubya-worshipping epic. They kept switching back and forth between these approaches, which must have been confusing for the actors.

We never got to see proper characterizations, because Chetwynd was too busy shoving the performers around to make them imitate the "real" people, and having them spout tons of off-topic, boring dialogue trying to justify the administration's decision.

The first writing teacher I ever had told us that it's far better to show characters actually DOING things, rather than have other characters stand there and gab about them. Now I see why.

5. Here's a factoid for you all.
In the movie "DC-9/11", Timothy Bottoms plays George W. Bush. Bottoms also played Bush in the Comedy Central show "That's My Bush". Sadly, "That's My Bush" was cancelled by Comedy Central just after the 9/11 attacks.

It's too bad I loved that show!

6. I hear you ...
re: Timothy Bottoms, I think it says a lot when the actor doing the portrayal is more interesting than the famous person he's playing!

Bottoms (who actually does have a ranch and looks after it himself) would make a way better neighbor than Junior. My friends near Santa Barbara tell me that he helps raise money for environmental groups -- plus he's an expert sailor, and is qualified as a land surveyor.

7. Honestly
I liked it better when he played the Funny GW Bush on the Comedy central show. Just my opinion.
