California Democrats must FIGHT BACK
If the Gropinator introduces legislation saying that the grass is green and the sky is blue every Democrat in the goddamn state needs to stand up and say HELL NO! Every single bit of his agenda needs to be DOA! The Dems still control the legislative branch of the state. They better find some courage and hammer this bastard.

Sorry for the rant, just my opinion. In 2000 the nat'l dems rolled over and played dead and look where that got us.

"Schwarzenegger made a lot of promises that we know are lies," Bob Mulholland, the campaign adviser to the California Democratic Party, said today. "And now he's going to find out that being in the governor's office is not a movie script. We'll be holding his feet to the fire."

3. California Democrats must "STAND BACK"
and let this guy self destruct.

We have another Bush in the makings.

My money says he is indicted for some type of crime before he finishes.

6. It is disturbing but didn't
25% of the democrats cote for Arnold? I thought I read here last night that women were the largest portion.....

I suspect that there are the dem's who are around their late 20's and 30's who just don't quite understand the political dynamics. Life is so busy, and learning the fundementals requires a sincere measure of study. I imagine they just voted on the "fly" without doing their homework.

I'm weak from lost hope at this point. I feel powerless...but I'm sure is only going to last a day or two. .....I 'll never give up.

9. You are so lucky.
I worked last night; 6pm to 6 am and started another job, day shift at 8am..., Nurse Manager of a Women's Medical Clinic. I'll cut down on the night supervisor job....I'll work it long enough to sock away cash for school.

I really need days.... I missed DU today. I can do the DU in the mornings there..We get busy by 12noon. There is quite a bit of down time for me. I'll looking at bringing my laptop.
Yea, I'm past tired and sleepy.....I am still up. I got back to work at 11am til 5pm at the Clinic tomorrow.

12. Unfortunately people don't vote based on "political dynamics."
Life IS very busy and people often base their decisions on fleeting impressions. Arnold was perceived as a strong outsider who will shake things up and Davis, at best, was perceived as weak and ineffectual. He was seen as part of the problem if not the whole of the problem. Perception is stronger than party affiliation and as much as I hate to say it, for most folks Arnold is "cool" and Davis is not.

8. Nobody's laying down here
Wednesday, October 8 -- STILL registering people to vote, making sure we keep in contact with our volunteers, STILL getting the message out and me, fighting with all the "Californians got what they deserve" DUers. Nobody here is going to be wasting time licking their wounds. We have an election to win in 2004.

10. The Gropinator was stuipid enough
to promise "no new taxes". With CA economy in the tank, I can promise DUers that campaign pledge will be in the pooper real soon. What smart politician says a fool thing like no new taxes? Duh!

Mark my word, all the tricks have been played and the only thing left to do is raise taxes. I guarantee it. I'm already lickin' my chops. Bring on your budget, Gropenbanger!

15. take a deep breath and think about what you're saying....
Look, I live in California. The state is in turmoil, its government is self-destructing, its economy is in the toilet. Now I don't have much faith in Arnold's ability to deliver on the rash promises he made during the campaign, but wishing him unthinking obstruction will only make things worse in California. That might serve your agenda but it'll make Californians lives even more difficult.

It's time to face some hard facts:

1) Whether wisely or unwisely, the California electorate chose Arnold clearly and definitively-- absent massive ballot fraud, the outcome of the recall election was not questionable.

2) Gray Davis was very unpopular, even among his own base. That was not a sufficient reason to recall him, and the recall campaign was clearly an abuse of the process, but again, a majority of Californians supported the recall from beginning to end. Darrell Issa bought their signatures, but on the other hand they came pretty cheaply.

3) Despite the fact that Davis was blamed for things that weren't his fault, e.g. the energy deregulation legislation that left the door wide open for the rape of California consumers, he did little to inspire confidence in his leadership during troubled times. He was percieved by many as little more than a special interest hack, whose advocacy was only available to the highest bidder.

4) Obstructionism for the sake of vengence benefits no one and makes us appear petty. If we adopt repig tactics, how are we better than repigs ourselves?

16. I agree with all of your points except...

...the last. Being good sports has got us where? Being the opposition party means opposing things. All we do when we go along with the pubs is enable them to further their agenda. They never compromise our way. Everyone would be better off if we started "obstucting" things a bit more often.
