For info, a list of states with recall statutes

http://www.house.leg.state.mn.us/hrd/pubs/recall.htm#OTHR

Other states with recall laws

In addition to Minnesota, 16 other states have recall laws. They are Alaska, Arizona, California, Colorado, Georgia, Idaho, Kansas, Louisiana, Michigan, Montana, Nevada, New Jersey, North Dakota, Oregon, Washington, and Wisconsin. For more information on other states' recall laws, see the House Research information brief, "Recall of State Elected Officials," (PDF document) published in October 1996.

2. The Repubs are already planning it here
They couldn't win the election, so they resort to this.

3. Recall elections are rare as hell
10 years ago Evan Mecham would've been recalled but something arose in which he recieved illegal campaign contributions making the recall unneccesary because he got impeached. 1 or two years ago a freeper attempted to recall John McCain but failed to get enough signatures on the ballot.

6. Apparently the Michigan Republicans have seen the light
I just read that they are considering modifying our recall laws. They apparently think that a vote to recall should only take effect, IF the number of recall votes EXCEEDS the number of votes that the recallee was originally elected with.
Of course, the Michigan Republicans didn't feel this way back in the 1980's when they recalled enough Democratic state Senators to swing control of that chamber to the Republican Party.
And naturally, they used that newly created Senate majority to ram odious legislation down the throats of those who had their representation usurped.

11. To bad Texas isn't on there
But then again, Texas is a republican state. That will be the next move. All predominantly dem states will have the recall option and the rethug states will not. I can see it, they don't care if they openly steal elections.

13. I helped get rid of Gov. Evan Meacham - Repub of Arizona
It was back in the 80's, but I remember collecting recall signatures. However, before he was recalled, the legislature impeached him. It was sweet.

14. Let's get ready then
It will look VERY suspicious if large amounts of officials start getting recalled in a short space of time by Republicans. Then again, if those recalls suceed due to anti-incumbency feelings in the electorate, we can use that against the GOP quite effectively in 2004. Play on the fact that the members of Congress and the President are incumbents...

I can see the possibilities now
