I'm having a hard time envisioning when we WILL win an election...

The CONs have this election thing sewn up. We have been defeated not just in CA but for the past three years and the foreseeable future. Yet, I know that doesn't mean we are defeated.

I truly wish I could quit my job and devote my life to earning a living by furthering cause. I don't want to run for office and I don't think that devoting time to working on one campaign is enough.

Unfortunately, I don't see a centralized place (i.e. a think tank) where we can strategize and regroup for the future. Are there options for this kind of work?

1. Calm yourself. California was an anomaly.

It was a referendum on Davis, not the Democratic party. Davis was an awful candidate, politically speaking. It's no wonder he lost. He only won in the 'real' election by some seriously sneaky (and brilliant) politics.

8. But, my problem is,

each one of these stolen or otherwise Repuke taken elections is called an anomaly. When will an election be "normal" again? I've spent about 4 election cycles losing sleep and posting my agony about the results on the internet. I sincerely appreciate and love my message board pals who have been equally as upset, BUT, how do we deal with all these losses?????? The media is sewn up by Repuke corporations, and the Democratic organization has prostituted itself to those same corps. Bottom line is, that without REAL campaign finance reform, nobody else has the bucks to finance a revolution. Or do we???????

2. I think we have a great shot

in Louisiana. Switching a seat back into our column - and in the Deep South, no less - would be a huge morale booster.

First, Jindall(R) and the others GOPers got about 40% of the primary vote (I'm pretty sure). The four Democrats got a combined 56% of the vote. That's pretty sweet!

Reading at FR a few minutes ago, the latest poll has this race tied.. but the pollster predicted that (by his data) if undecideds were forced to choose, the race would be 53-47 in OUR favor. That's great news.. us winning such an election.

Like I said.. a tremendous morale booster.. and proof that we can still win tough elections.

(Second thought.. if we do win there this year, maybe something is in the water in Louisiana? Two major wins in that state two years in a row?!? Very weird. If we win, we might have to take a very close look at how we've pulled it off..)

I feel that a large amount of these people aren't even worth taking time out of my day to go to the polls so hitting the streets for them is completely out of the question.

On edit: I'll sit out a few cycles until all of the garbage and scum gets cleared out from this side of the aisle.

7. The mayor of San Francisco was on PBS news hour tonight

and was very well spoken. One of the things he mentioned was that this could not be considered a repudiation of democrats, as democrats have been elected to most offices in the state.

10. we will figure this out

Even though it is true we are taking a beating right now, many people are aware that the repubs are fighting dirty. So I think that as the collective consciousness rises, more information will be upturned. It is hard that this is taking such a long time, and it is plenty frustrating. But I just feel a kind of groundswell.

despiair and gloom are powerful tools on the RWnut PNACers...it is the backbone of their "strategery"...it is what they yeach their minnons of Roverites on all campuses called "study groups" and then they march out to infiltrate liberal orgs, groups on college campuses and internet message boards across the country

believe me...they are this well funded and organized....i see it's working well here at DU lately...sigh
