I just had an idea for the upcoming campaign season. A nationally-aired series of pro-democrat/liberal campaign ads, sponsored by the DNC itself, and promoting no single candidate.
The first commercial, run for no longer than a week, is negative. It tells about all the investigations, indictments, and charges filed against the Repubs and their corporate allies. Diebold, Haliburton, Blackwater. Armed mercs in New Orleans and Iraq.
It would run for no longer than a week, no more than five times a day.
Then, on the first day of Week 2, we do a compare/contrast between the way things were run under Democratic leadership, and what we have now. How Clinton picked his cabinet, diplomats, and heads of agencies like FEMA. How the Democrats in congress showed respect to the minority Republicans.
Week Three would begin with the Democratic Oath of Good Government (found on my blog), or something like it. An appeal to the American People to seek a change in leadership, and a return to true ethical and responsible government practices. A promise to revitalize the middle class and work toward a living wage, universal education, universal healthcare, and a more honest, just government.
To reverse the trend created by the Republican Party and its inept leadership, it will be necessary to raise taxes. But not for the middle class and working poor. THEY will get the tax breaks this time. The corporations and the ultra-wealthy will only get tax breaks for acting to stimulate the economy--by providing jobs, by acting with social and environmental responsibility. Tax breaks for those corporations who STAY here and hire American. Who don't poison our children with dangerous chemicals. Who do not engage in questionable business practices.
At the end of each ad will be a single slogan.
"Take Back America! Vote Democratic."
edited to change "Democrat" to "Democratic."
