Draftclark.com site owned by DEAN supporter !
Edited on Wed Oct-08-03 10:49 PM by Clark Can WIN
Why is the Draft Clark site owned by a DEAN supporter, Armstrong Zuniga AKA Kos of Daily Kos http://dailykos.com which is a very well known Dean supporter site who also happens to be EMPLOYED by the DEAN CAMPAIGN? Enquiring minds want to know. :grr:

Kind of FREAKING COOINCIDENTAL that an anti-Clark letter should end up on a Clark site owned by a DEAN employee, isn't it?
:argh:
WHOIS information for DRAFTCLARK.COM:

Registrant:
Armstrong Zuniga

Domain Name: DRAFTCLARK.COM

1. because...
I'm sure someone can provide the long answer, but the simple answer -- as I have seen posted on Kos's site -- was that he was one of the main players in the original Draft Clark movement, and THEN--later on--he went on to do technical (website related) work for the Dean campaign. As far as saying DailyKos is a "well-known dean supporter site" that's just not true. As far as I know, Kos has not endorsed Dean, and there are just as many anti-Deanites that post in the threads over there as there are pro-Clark people.

using a Clark support site that he owns to trash Clark? :smoke:

26. DraftClark.com
is the product of Jerome Armstrong (of the MyDD blog) and Markos Zuniga (of Daily Kos). They started it back in April I believe (maybe late March?). They both went on to other things and Kos turned over the site, blog software, and server space to the Draft Clark people when he went to work for Dean. It was all very public on the Yahoo message board at the time. There's no conspiracy.

It's not registered under a Dean campaign employees name anymore. Respectfully.

38. Is Clark going to pay for the domain?
If you feel so strongly about it, perhaps you should urge the Clark campaign to buy the domain from Zuniga.

Your objections sound pretty petty considering that the Clark campaign inherited for free a working site and marketing strategy. There's no reason Zuniga should relinquish the domain for free.

Kos himself is a Dean supporter now. Not that there's anything wrong or underhanded about it, it's just the way things worked out.

19. If it's so very innocent
why doesn't he simply hand the domain over to someone else? That would seem like the honorable thing to do. As opposed to the reptillian, underhanded, duplicitous, double agent bullshit thing to do.

Like working for one candidate and using what YOU have built as a SUPPORTERS site for your candidates competition to trash him.

5. It looked like a Dean support site to me when I was there
which is why I didn't stick around. Didn't want to rain on anyones parade so for me it was your basic waste of time but let me ask you this...........

Do you find it unconscionable that an employee of the Dean campaign would keep the rights to a Clark movement site, maintained for months as a Clark support site and then use it to try to tear Clark down in such a cowardly and dishonest manner?

I know I do. What an ass.

Edited on Wed Oct-08-03 10:57 PM by no name no slogan
:wtf:

Kos is one of the biggest Dean spinmeisters in the business-- so much so that it clouds out his rational judgement in electoral issues.

And his comments are open to ANYBODY-- they're neither pro- nor anti-Dean. But if you read Kos's postings, his pro-Dean bias is as obvious as the alter boy farting during mass.

I've sworn off the liberal blogs, as they're all pretty much the same: a pissed-off wannabe yuppie who thinks he's somehow been "wronged" because his cushy six-figure job at a dot-com writing "content" went down the crapper with his 401k and worthless stock options. So they protest by going to Dean MeetUps and putting bumper stickers on their Audis.
:nopity:

If I want their opinions, I can head down to Starbucks.

To have an anti-clark letter suddenly "appear" on a Draft Clark movement site that just happens to be owned by a Dean employee does not strike you as strange?

is that draftclark.com has a thread linking
to a Kos piece bashing the Clark campaign.

It's kind of weird.

And as far as I can tell, Kos is a Dean supporter
as well as someone who works for him.

22. I was under the impression that Kos WAS a Clark supporter before Clark
announced his candidacy and opted not to involve Draftclark.com in the campaign. I thought I read that WesleyClark2004.com's staff was asked to help with the official campaign once Clark declared but DraftClark.com's wasn't.

Could explain the change of heart...

25. Here's what I think happened
iirc, kos started the site, then left it, and he doesn't post on it anymore-- Stirling Newberry (also on Clarksphere) is the DraftClark.com poster. Is this the same Stirling that used to post on Salon's tabletop? I guess kos could just shut it down, but he said that he doesn't run it anymore.

Edited on Thu Oct-09-03 12:03 AM by w4rma
Maybe he used to support Clark, then got involved in the Dean campaign and decided he'd rather support Dean.

But, DraftClark.com was one of the sites that was instrumental in getting General Clark into politics, so I see no reason to go and bash him. He helped us all by helping bring Clark into this race, IMHO.

On edit:
I just read graham67's post number 24. That makes the most sense to me.

Do you not think it would be the honorable thing to do for a Dean employee that owns a Draft Clark website to turn over that domain to a Clark person, instead of using it to trash Clark?

but please read this thread I started yesterday:

http://www.democraticunderground.com/discuss/duboard.php?az=show_mesg&forum=104&topic_id=499823&mesg_id=499823

I'm still trying to figure it all out; Zuniga supports Dean; Newberry wanted to work with Dean but was dissed so jumped to Clark - he now runs the site and wrote the letter. Seems his ego was bruised a bit.

Please read my previous post. Keep in mind there were two factions of the Draft Campaign; Hlinko's and Newberry's. Hlinko and Co. were asked to join the official campaign while the other was not; hence the bitter words. Please also keep in mind the Draft Clark site is not part of the official campaign, so don't worry about it, OK?

posted to it at one time...Hlinko, Marguilies, Brent Blackaby (sp?), Stirling. There was apparently a huge issue at one time when Kos wanted to turn the site over (the two groups fought for control), so he made both Draft groups share it.

34. It's easy to understand if you try...No need for paranoia.
Kos wanted Clark in the race early, before he committed to any candidate. He and Jerome Armstrong of Mydd.com set up the site and worked hard to get it going. Later on, after Kos had done some web work for the DNC his blog drew the attention of the Dean people, who hired him. He still supported Clark a good bit though, on his blog, but of late has gotten discouraged with the Clark campaign's internet cluelessness.

How do I know? Because I watched all this happen as it happened.
