But Mayor Street is caught in a tough re-election race against Sam Katz, whom he defeated by less than 10,000 votes back in 1999. So this is an interesting devleopment. The latest polls had the race being even, although Katz had led a few weeks ago by six points.
Street has very high negatives in the city. NE Philadelphia hates him with a passion. His tenure has been less than impressive. This campaign has been filled with bitter and arguably racially charged rhetoric from both sides.
The one thing is that the FBI might have a legitimate reason to look into Street's office. Street's tenure has been filled with corruption.
Then again I wouldn't put it past Katz to do something like that.
