Picture of Arnold (Salute?)
Is Arnold giving a Nazi salute in this picture?

An online radio guy named David Emory says so. The pic is from a Sports Illustrated article in 1987.

I'm not sure whether he is saluting or not. I'd like to hear what everybody else thinks. What's your impression?

2. Is Arnold human in that picture?
For crissakes! That picture is disgusting. It doesn't even look real.

3. Looks photoshopped to me.
As much as I would like it to be real, I think the right arm is curled with a fist.

4. I don't think it's photoshopped
The website says it's taken from the Dec. 7, 1987 issue of Sports Illustrated. If it was photoshopped, it would be very easy to get a copy of that issue at a library-- David Emory even tells his listeners to do so. Of course, I haven't seen the issue myself.

7. Well
I'm a drummer...so, the only real muscle I have to flex is in my forearm, and I replicated that pose and I was able to flex my forearm really well an my bicep decently. Looks like a pose to me. Though that picture is nasty.

O'Reilly after the Fresh Air interview...

Try that pose
Edited on Wed Oct-08-03 11:53 PM by FDRrocks
and try to get your forearm to flex better than that in any other position.

edit: Common sense applies... "I'm here to shoot you for Sports Illustrated." ... "Ohkay, let me strike my Nazi pose for no reason."

10. The picture source is dubious to be real....
Edited on Wed Oct-08-03 11:59 PM by Billy_Pilgrim
The angle is fine but look closely at the grain of the hand.

On edit... I downloaded the pic from Indy media and blew it up in Photoshop and it does look real. Suppossedly published by Sports Illustrated on DECEMBER 7, (????) 1987 "Pex Sell Tix" by Dan Geringer.

11. It's a bodybuilding pose
It is a variation of the "Javelin thrower pose." You can do it 2 different ways, with your left arm down like in the picture or with your left arm up and flexing the bicep.

I lift weights. I'd say I am about half that size, maybe. I am also not near as defined as Arnold of course.

13. It's absolutely, positively, without question a Nazi salute…
…even if it isn’t. ;)

Why give Arnold *any* breaks at this point?

15. Nah, Just Arnold, givin' the world "the Schwartz"
Which I believe is Barbarian sign language for "bite me."

This guy can't be a Hitler devotee, because Arnold has only one idol- himself.
