Bush and his Speech Today
I managed to listen to a little of Bush's speech today w/o throwing up. This caught my attention, he said "Iraq is free of the dictator and Iraq could be the democratic nation in the middle east,Wouldn't that be something?" and the audience of trained seals gave a hearty round of applause, but the point was he said and I quote "FREE nations do not need weapons of mass destruction" that is an indictment of even the US. Who writes his speeches?

Tell me exactly how we are the freest country.

I want specific examples. I want to know how you KNOW that we are the freest country.

4. heh...
I wish I had those nickels for every time I've heard that Europe, Canada, and so many other places were enslaved and only the US is truly free.

I could retire in one of those slave states quite free and happy.

6. Wasn't There Some Kinda of Gauge?
I remember an index during the 80's that, I think was done by Amnesty International, giving "Freedom Ratings" to all nations. Some of the criteria was the type of government, economic system, who controls the press, religious freedom and so on...

If memory serves me, the Scandanavian countries always were at the top (no surprise) and many of the then Soviet satellites and Arab states at the bottom (Saudi Arabia had negative numbers, I think). The U.S. was in the pack with the Western European states.

Is there a similar index now? It'd be interesting to see how we "rate" under this regime.

11. We're only as free as every other American is
And right now there are a couple of US citizens (suspected terrorists) who aren't afforded their Constitutional rights. Why can't people see this? If you want your rights, then you have to make sure that the rights of all others are respected.

5. Hmmm....
Same line as last week, with much the same responses here. But, then, Bush is a past master at logical inconsistencies.

Cheers.

12. Another Commercial
Anyone know if the manchild has done a speech outside of a military base, church, RW fundraiser or some big contributor's factory?

I know his puppetmasters are afraid to meet the "riff raff" (translation: 95% of Americans), but then he doesn't read the papers either...how reasurring for the "most powerful man in the world" (geesh...my fingers almost wouldn't let my type that).

BTW...at least we'll get some good snippets to watch on Letterman later.
