Latest Rumor: Arnold plans on becoming a Democrat by Nov.2004
A radio host this morning claims this is the talk of the town.Said this is why Maria & the Kennedy's supported him. From what I've heard & read, I DOUBT Arnold will betray his new masters who helped him win in the first place.Anyone hear this?Trying to figure out Who is saying it & where it all began.

37. Wow - this is a great Republican strategy by Schwartzenegger
Keep them in limbo. And if more news is discovered about the whole electronic voting problem, well, I just start a rumor that I MAY switch to the Democratic party.

WAKE UP PEOPLE - HE ISNT CHANGING ANYTHING.

The honeymoom will be over. It's surprises me how many Dems are wringing their hands and saying Arnold is so popular and ain't going anywhere. Yeah and Bush is as popular as he was on the day after 9/11.

3. It wouldn't surprise me...
The die-hard conservative only support him because of the (R) in front of his name.

He won't do anything for them on issues conservatives hate.

So this wouldn't surprise me, though I don't see it actually happening.

While they're ripping off CALPERS, and shifting the tax burden, and making life very easy for the huge media corporations which campaigned for Arnold, they'll have you thinking, hey, maybe he's really a Democratic.

17. OMG! I posted this SAME theory about 2 weeks ago. I thought
that Maria probably said to Arnold "Hey, you can run and I will support you, but later on you WILL switch to the Democratic Party." She knew all the scandals would come out, so why would she go along w/ this?

BTW, no one commented on my post (it was part of a thread) and my husband doesn't think it will happen/

18. Nah...
Maria and her mom were supportive of his campaign, but I wouldn't say "the Kennedys" supported him. Uncle Teddy was silent, as were the rest of 'em. I agree with Romantico that Ahnuld probably would not betray his "new masters."

And, as most people have said on this thread...

We don't want him! The tent isn't big enough for those pectorals (or that ego).

28. That's a meme that would push me out o f the
Democratic Party for sure. These days I'm hanging by a thread. Would never become a member of the R party, and can't quite embrace the Green party with any degree enthusiasm.

This party cannot expect to resurge if it continues to do things the R way. I want the DLC gone. I want a populist who understands ordinary people. I'm sick of unprincipled hacks on this side as much as any the Rs have to offer.

Believe me, I feeling pretty disheartened.

24. Ah-nold as Trojan Horse? I can see it.
I was thinking this myself just yesterday. It would be the perfect way to fuck with the Dem mindset. Consider:

1. the groping problem becomes a Dem problem, not an Ah-nold problem. He figures Dems will drop the issue because he's now on "their side," and it will give repigs a chance to use the occasional "of course he's a Dem now...he's a sexual predator just like Clinton" line.

2. Ah-nold says he's a Dem so the CA legislature will work with him. Of course, he's a Zell Miller Dem at best.

3. He still ends up endorsing bush in '04, "party labels mean nuh-ting to me...Ah vote for da man...you should, too!"

4. The repigs shrug it off - "it was never about getting a repig in, it was about getting rid of Gray Davis (who just happens to have been a very visible, lifelong Dem in a heavily Dem state). We're just happy Gray is gone. Ah-nold can be whatever he wants to be. That's what we repigs are alll about!"

5. It gives the repigs a chance to vilify the CA legislature, setting them up for a repig takeover in '04. "Those CA Dems are so against the will of the people, they can't work with the man of the people (Ah-nold) even when he joins their party. Time to throw them out and put in more repigs (hello, redistricting!). Ah-nold is Ah-nold, but these Dems are the spawn of Satan."

And so it goes...

From what has been reported here regarding his agenda
I would say he isn't leaning in that direction. Why didn't he run as a Democrat then? Didn't he think he could get elected in Cally fornia as a Democrat? Sounds like crap to me.

34. I'll believe it when I see it and not before
No way Arnie goes with the Dems, who cannot promise him the 2017 Emperorship that the Busheviks will give him.

They need an Emperor I'm-a-Bushevik-but-my-name-ain't-Bush-so-stop-saying-we're-a-hereditary-Empire. Especially in 2017 after the reign of Emperor Jeb makes it an even 16 years of Bushevik horror.

They need a "liberal" Republican (Arnie will do as Pete Wilson tells him, more or less, because he has no fucking idea about governing) to distance themselves and Arnie will function as Raygun did, a nice, stupid propr behind which they can continue their Ops unabated.

35. Wow - I predicted this rumor last night!
Last night on the news here in NYC, Caroline Kennedy was asked about Arnold and his Republicanism, and Caroline - ever the diplomat - smiled that beautiful smile of hers and said (somewhat tongue in cheek) "We're working on him."

I knew right then and there someone would take that ball and run with it.
