Because Arnold don't know crap about what he's doing? Does anyone really think he will be making "independent" decisions? Pete Wilson was working behind the scenes on this last election and he will be the person with Arnold's ear as for dealing with the Democratic legislature and with Washington. In effect, he will be telling Arnold how to act and what to say. Maybe he will break the news to him about how clever he was in giving a refund of the car tax to Californians when the economy was good and how he signed the law that would permit the car tax to increase if revenues were to decline? Who's your Governor? Arnold Wilson?

will need all the help he can get in order to govern. GW would be up the creek without the slicks directing him in the wrong direction.
