Sorry! Arnold will be recalled or indicted:
1. Sorry folks, if you think this assault stuff is going away, it's not.
2. Too many folks wanted their absentees returned to change their votes against Arnold.
2. Enron lawsuit
3. He has alienated the gay community by choosing an anti-gay bigot to run his transition team and if he rolls back Gray Davis' domestic partnership legislation they'll sign on.
4. Latin voters who said Yes hoping Bustamante would win.
5. The 2 million voters who stayed home because the media said it was a foregone conclusion or they didn't vote. There were many more polling problems than were reported.

He needs to be humiliated the way that he humiliated those women.

The truth is not a dirty political trick.

1. Our timing has to be bang on though --
there's a 190 day limit on the time one can circulate the petition. I hope lots of these women will come out -- one every couple of days. Is it possible for any of these women to press charges of some kind -- even if they don't result in a conviction, it would be sweet to see him finally have to address them in a serious way.

Can the absentee voters who would have changed their minds make some kind of stink.

Since it is Bustamonte suing Enron for the $9 billion, what can Arnie do to undermine it??

4. That's of course if Arnold
Does not try to repeal the Recall law in Califronia First.

This is how it would sound: "My fellow califronian's we don't want the recall processed abused and used for partisan purposes. I was fairly elected 6 months ago."

Of course Daryl Issa(that theif) will agree and defend Ahnold.

19. It's not a statute, it's in the Constitution of California
Edited on Thu Oct-09-03 05:30 PM by 0rganism
He can't just change the recall law by executive fiat.

However, I'm sure the GOP will try to put it on the ballot ASAP, so any re-recall has to hatch before that happens.

6. Arnold + Enron
The Gropenator's sole task as governor is to agree to cut a deal with Enron, et al, and make the lawsuit go away. No court will try the case if there is a settlement signed by the governor of the state.

I'm convinced this is Arnold's ONLY task as governor. Once he gets rid of Enron's headache (the lawsuit), his work is done. Well, the GOP is done with him, anyway. They won't care if he's recalled, hung out to dry, sued, deported, whatever. Just fix Kenny's woes, and you're done.

Should be interesting...

14. Criminal charges - No, Civil Court - Si!
If a sitting Prez can be sued, a gropenator has no chance.

And that's ruin California even more.

The Republicans are playing slash-and-burn politics, and don't care the out-comes, just look at Iraq.

3. Which number two is it?
Your number 2 items seem to have no relationship to each other. ;-)

Why would the California voters recall Arnold because of the Enron lawsuit?

As to number 5, the press is reporting this was the largest turnout ever. I doubt that a recall will succeed unless he surprises the voters with some really big facts (a 38 Billion dollar deficit) like Davis did. If he goes to the trouble of keeping the people informed like Davis should have, they will probably keep him 'till the next election.

8. Here's some info for your questions
Your reference to a $38B deficit isn't accurate (it's no wonder you think that it's $38B though, considering that that is what most of the mediawhores have been saying for the past few weeks)...

Here's some info about that:
JUST IN TIME! Two days after California’s election, the Post takes apart its state budget:
http://www.dailyhowler.com/dh100903.shtml

Here's some info about Arnold's connection to the Enron thieves and how he may try to help Enron avoid paying the $9B they owe to Californians.

15. Daily howler says it was a $38 Billion deficit.
The article in the daily howler says the deficit was $38 B and that's the surprise I was referring to. It goes on to say: Of course, Davis had “gotten rid of it before,” lowering the figure from 38 down to 8.

This last part is where the press failed miserably. I truly believe that most members of the press do want to help Democrat candidates, but our journalism schools have been so dumbed down that although the graduates have "good intentions" they don't have ability, and go with the "easy story" which is why they all pretty much report the same pap.

5. Cite for #2, please
Edited on Thu Oct-09-03 04:12 PM by slackmaster
I mean the first #2, not the Enron thing.

There is no provision in California law for taking back a vote. There is no provision in US law for recalling an item that has been mailed.

9. The lawsuit isn't just against Enron
It's against a bunch of energy companies such as El Paso Gas and Alliance among others. Suing only Enron for $8 billion is pretty futile as they are in bankruptcy.

Enron isn't the only player in this.

I'm also not convinced he will kill that lawsuit. If he does expect a huge shitstorm from a lot of people in California and not just people who think like us.

A couple of my GOP friends (yes, I have a couple) will be equally pissed.

11. The Corportae Media will cover for him
They'll bend over backwards.

Just watch.

Be amazed.

Don't think so?

Look at Bush and Cheney. Harken gate, Haliburton-gate, drunk driving, lying to start wars, impeding the 9-11 investigation, stealing elections...

Just watch.

Aw-Nuld is a Bushie.

He shall be protected.

12. Hell, who needs a reason to recall?
The republicans didn't present a valid case. So fuck them. Recall.

The reason? Arnold has failed to live up to his promises.

16. In California literally any reason is sufficient for recall
The only thing you can't do is start a recall for no reason.

but I have serious doubts that he is capable of keeping his hands to himself, and I think one minor incident and he's outta there.

18. The anti-gay bigot is perhaps gay.
David Dreier is rumored to be gay--if so, he should be outed. I don't generally support outing, but this is a good case where it is warranted.
