I grew up in upstate NY and was there when the whole Brawley mess broke out.

Never forgave him for his part in that, for making NYers confront the notion that maybe we really were "like that," (because some are, and refuse to acknowledge it voluntarily) only to find out it was a hoax.

That is, I never forgave him until this year when I saw him in the debates.

Whatever he did to cause divisiveness in the late '80s, he seems to be doing his best to reverse it 15 years on.

I think that's worth something.

We don't agree on a lot of issues, however, this guy posts some things to keep us in REALITY CHECK. We are such a party of "toe the line" that when one dares to question Democratic "orthodoxy" - DAMN THEM. I get it all the time as a DUer firmly on the left! Some things irritate me: Being blasted for daring to question Wesley Clark, for daring to suggest the Philly mayor (John Street) MIGHT BE a slimy crook, for thinking that Sharpton IS a good speaker - but a dirty shyster who peddled religion and hate side-by-side for years.
