Where do your Congressman and Senators stand on appt of Special Prosecutor
Let's get a tally. Who here has already made contact? Please post. If your state isn't represented please call your reps and give us a report.

I contacted my Congressman Harold Ford, Jr. (Dem, TN) Believe or not he waffled on the special prosecutor, preferring to believe that the Justice Department can handle it appropriately. I don't bother contacting my suck-up Senators (Frist and Alexander). We all know where they stand.

What we need to do is to let them know that we are part of the 70% who demand a Special Prosecutor. Why? Just read this:

White House May Use Executive Privilege in CIA Investigation

The Boston Globe is reporting that the White House may invoke executive privilege to bar the Justice Department from viewing some documents related to the investigation into who within the administration revealed the identity of a CIA agent to reporters. The White House counsel is reviewing all of the documents pertaining to the case before anything is given to the Justice Department which will then carry out the investigation. Attorney General John Ashcroft has rejected calls for an independent counsel. Senator Edward Kennedy of Massachusetts said "Asserting executive privilege would make a farce of the investigation. That's why we need a special prosecutor, so that we can challenge any cover-up." Meanwhile Democratic Congressman John Conyers of Michigan, called on Bush advisor Karl Rove to resign over the CIA scandal.

1. Washington State
Washington state Senators Murray & Cantwell and Congressmen Inslee & Smith all support the assignment of a special prosecutor.

2. Sent email to Zell Miller
I addressed his loud backing of Bush on the tax cuts and the war and the fact that he is very quiet now that our economy is a mess due to the Bush economic policies and that we are horribly in debt due to the unnecessary war. I stated that my friends and family members are suffering financially due to his votes for Bush policies.

Pointed out that there is no evidence that there ever was an imminent threat from Iraq and that our soldiers have been killed and maimed and are still being killed and maimed-and that we are no safer. Asked him what he could have been thinking of to create such chaos.

I suggested he needed to call for a special prosecutor who can impartially investigate the possible criminal action by Bush administration personnel in revealing the identity of an undercover CIA agent and who can ensure that Bush and his aides cooperate fully with the investigation.

I am going to follow-up with a telephone call tomorrow. Zell Miller is very proud of his service in the Marines but I don't think he was ever in combat-possibly not even in a war zone. I guess I will have to ask.
