The Political Compass Quiz.......are you like Stalin, Gandhi or bush???
Take this short quiz and find out where you are on the Political Compass. I took this quiz several months ago and again this evening and scored basically the same both times(opposite of George Bush, maybe that's why I have such disdain for him).

The Political Compass

Welcome to The Political Compass.

There's abundant evidence for the need of it. The old one-dimensional categories of 'right' and 'left' , established for the seating arrangement of the French National Assembly of 1789, are overly simplistic for today's complex political landscape. For example, who are the 'conservatives' in today's Russia? Are they the unreconstructed Stalinists, or the reformers who have adopted the right-wing views of conservatives like Margaret Thatcher ?

On the standard left-right scale, how do you distinguish leftists like Stalin and Gandhi? It's not sufficient to say that Stalin was simply more left than Gandhi. There are fundamental political differences between them that the old categories on their own can't explain. Similarly, we generally describe social reactionaries as 'right-wingers', yet that leaves left-wing reactionaries like Robert Mugabe and Pol Pot off the hook.

My Results.....

Economic Left/Right: -4.12
Libertarian/Authoritarian: -2.62

Perhaps, as my outspoken son is fond of telling me, I'm so broadminded that I've become flatheaded.
I often wonder about my outspoken son.

I really don't think I'm as left as the results show, but I'm certainly proud to be in the 'Good' quadrant.

We should test and graph the current 9 candidates.

22. these tests miss the nuance
and the way questions are stated, or the connections you make with certain statements can make a difference in your answer.

and only having the four choices you are given also makes a difference in how I, at least, answered some questions.

26. Ya think?
Yeah, whoever wrote this test might be a bit less than objective. Wonder how I should answer this one?

"If economic globalisation is inevitable, it should primarily serve humanity rather than the interests of trans-national corporations."

Nah, screw humanity. I love trans-national corporations, tho!

39. Had a friend take the test who is a Conservative.
I'd actually say he's almost a fundy, but in engineering, so the science has paid off by saving his brain.

Remember, science may not save ones soul, but it will save your brain!

He scored a 0.23 on L/R economic, and a 1.05 on auth scale.

Interesting.

40. I saw this quiz posted on a extreme right board and
the majority of the people that posted their results were 5 to 7.00 range. If your friend would have posted his results on their board he would have probably been called a communist(at the very least). Sounds like your friend might be able to saved from the evil empire of the extreme right, if he continues to use his brain.

41. This is a terrible quiz!
(I'm a liberal libertarian, by the way).

It was very poorly worded, IMHO--lots of qualifiers. Plus, there wasn't any 'no opinion' option.

I loved this question, by the way: Astrology accurately explains many things. Er, what, exactly, does that tell you about a person's political bent?
