ITS TIME TO RECALL JAY LENO
If only to save his last shred of dignity.
From the time I saw his first appearance on Johnny Carson, when he did a very clever bit about making his parents proud by putting his philospophy degree from college to good use by opening a philosphsy shop, I always liked this guy. Always thought of him as a really decent guy.
But watching his show now is like swimming in a toilet bowl. It's just gotten tackier and tackier. And what's this deal with his whoring for SSchwarzenenger?
Any let's start a movement to recall Jay Leno; tough love to save what I think is a very good, if rating polluted, soul.

1. Double Standard
So we should "recall" Jay Leno for supporting a republican, but it is a great idea and we should fully support hollywood people who are actively campaigning for democrats?

Stop watching Leno? Sure. Just as the wacky right likes to boycott Alec Baldwin and others. Its a free country.

But what disturbes me is that I have heard others mention how an entertainer shouldn't inject themselves or advocate in the political arena. Which I find completely bogus. Americans have the right to do as they damn well please, regardless of their profession with matters regarding the future of our country.

5. Well, while my "recall" advocacy was meant to be a bit tonque-in-cheek
I think there is a big difference between a celebrity advocating a political preference, and a an institution like the "Tonight Show" advocating a political position. And when he is hosting the "Tonight Show" Jay Leno is the "Tonight Show."

2. Leno's another Massachusetts boy gone bad
I have been thinking a lot about the jerk and what he has done and my conclusion is that he is a symptom of the problem we are all facing: The dumbing down of politics.
People want entertainers, not policy wonks.

3. he's a 'company man'
GE-NBC

he can do whatever ... but, if the Tonight Show is going to be a political forum ... give all the candidates equal time to appear and announce their candidacy ... and, to make sure the audience is full of their supporters for full effect ...

an afterthought of having a stage full of 'all the others' is hardly fair and balanced

6. I can't watch him anymore, not just because he's a hack now...
I mean, really, his show is so boring and UN-funny - the antithesis of Dave or Conan. Jay has to be scripted, he's no good at off-the-cuff riffing. His show is completely lame.

I would really love to be in his audience some night, and as soon as he does his nightly Clinton joke, shout "He's been out of office for three years!" This Clinton bashing, plus the lack of any jokes about this administration, shows his (or his bosses) bias.

8. I don't know if you'd call it boycotting,
but I haven't watched his show in a long, long time, unless there is a guest I particularly want to see, then just for that one guest. I yearn for another Johnny Carson. Leno has never been particularly funny, IMHO. I have even less interest now because of his obvious political leanings. I really don't find Letterman all that funny either, although a bit more than Leno. I do watch him on occasion though, because at least he doesn't turn me off with his politics. Is there another Johnny out there somewhere? Now he could make me laugh my socks off.
