Anyone else notice 9 of the top 10 (minus Montana) voted for Gore in 2000...Not being snooty, just saying...

that New England comes out as the 'smartest' region of the country. Now if we could only get NH and RI to join the rest of NE.

10. Kansas was 15
Kind of scary really. We don't teach evolution in public schools and the Legislature tried to ban a class at Kasas University because of sexual content.

And we haven't voted for a Dem for President since LBJ. And I think we only did twice in all of the 20th century.

13. According to the Tax Foundation, Massacheusetts is 13th,
overall in State and Local Taxes. It only become 2nd if you add Federal taxes. This suggests to me that tax funding for education in this state is a lot less than some others.

15. That's the whine of property owners in the baystate
sales/income taxes etc... are much less regressive than in other states and are more fairly distributed upward to those with deeper pockets.

16. My own State, Connecticut, comes in 5th and 1st, in taxes that is.
