Bush tries a few jokes with fund-raising
audience

Friday, October 10, 2003 Posted: 9:47 AM EDT (1347 GMT)

LEXINGTON, Kentucky (AP) --
President Bush came up with a new
reason Thursday for riding on Air
Force One.

"Not much air rage on Air Force One," Bush
jokingly told a fund-raising audience as he
offered a ride on the presidential plane to Labor
Secretary Elaine Chao. The audience seemed
baffled by the off-the-cuff remark about angry
outbursts on planes.

Bush seemed in a loose mood as he raised
money for Rep. Ernie Fletcher, the Republican
candidate for governor in Kentucky.

1. Thats nice
I really love hearing him make a joke about something that caused the largest attack on US soil.

Leave it up to him to keep using 9/11 as an excuse to make jokes/money/excuses.

4. that's not what I understand as air rage
I've always heard it as passengers causing a fuss, threatening the attendants, etc., because they're drunk.

Was he trying to point out he's still sober?

3. that's just not funny...
since Bush is, in part, responsible for an increase in the generalized rage in the US. :grr:

6. The real joke was that the citizens of Lexington will have to pay
for the security for a purely partisan visit, and so will the rest of the US for the cost of AF 1 use for partisan purposes.

Shouldn't the GOP be paying for this?
