Poll question: Why is Rush so afraid of us?
For the second time this week Rush has asked his Dittos to attack DU, today he even said that he was glad they shut this place down earlier in the week. Obviously things are being said here that Rush doesn’t want out but which of our observations and disclosures petrify him so?

Aside from these choices I think that this ploy is a desperate attempt by a man on a rapid decline to attack the flea that keeps landing on him. He swats, but it moves elsewhere, he swats again but the flea bites anyway.

1. Anybody got a picture of Rush with that handicapped boy
Edited on Fri Oct-10-03 12:15 PM by Evil_Dewers
taken in Pittsburgh?

Either Rush is gay or sterile. He's never fathered a child and is on his third marriage.

20. You know Evil,
Rush is a lying, addicted, paranoid fool--why embellish? When there so much to attack Rush on that we know is true it does belittle all of us to speculate about his sperm count.

2. I have a problem with this.
Edited on Fri Oct-10-03 12:13 PM by DK666
He is advocating Domestic Terrorisim by disrupting communications within the United States. Did the DU admins sic their ISP's and the FBI on the "hackers" (I hate that word it is used the wrong way). Rush is a Big Fat Doodie Head IMO.

I hate that LOOSER.

EDIT: Ya know they can find a teenager (script kiddie) in the backwoods of Minn that mods a piece of code and infects 7 computers charge him with all kinds of crimes and quash his civil rights.

11. Now, it wasn't exactly the backwoods on Minn
it was.. oh, all right, its all backwoods here in MN, who am I trying to kid? Except the Cities...

It is Domestic Terrorism and if the spamming/denial of service increases after his requests then Skinner and Co. should contact Tommy Ridge and see if charges can't be brought against the pill-head.

8. He slowed the server down for about 5 minutes
a few days ago. I saw in Freeperville that the DU administrators didn’t allow new posters for a while either. Today Rush did the same thing on the air and it slowed DU down for a few minutes again, naturally Rush would claim that he “shut us down cold” because he doesn’t let the truth interfere with his grandiose claims. Another pathetic lie from Rush, at least this one doesn’t matter in the scheme of things. Most people who listen to Rush are in their cars or just didn’t check so his claim will go down with the rest of his lies.

6. I would like to point out to the moderators
That asking people to purposefully create a denial of service attack is in fact a criminal action. It is also probably something they can go after in a civil manner. I highly recommend they contact the authorities and a good lawyer. How great would it be to win damages and have DU funded in perpetuity through via Mr. Limbaugh's money?

21. For the record
Rush got on the air and told everyone NOT to come to this site. He said that it was too disturbing for them or whatever. He didn't advocate them shutting down the site, he said that this site would show them the "crazy left" or whatever, and that they shouldn't even look at it because it was so scary.

Today he gets on the air and says he knows that everyone ignored his warning, because the site was shut down after so many people visited it at one time yesterday. I did NOT hear any reference to a purposful DoS attack, FWIW. Anyone have a more acurate transcript?

24. As a matter of fact you are wrong,
at least about todays show. He did say that he told his listeners yesterday that they shouldn’t visit DU, then he joked that he told them many times not to come but they did it anyway, and it shut DU down. Then he went on to say that he was gald that they shut the DU down.

Now, his expressed gladness that his listeners shut DU down (not true anyway, but that’s for later)is a tacit endorsement of that act. When you tell someone that you don’t want them to do something but go on to say that you’re glad that they did that very thing you are suggesting that they perform the act. There is no honest alternative way to look at it.

I guess I missed that part. I thought that I heard him say that it was shut down, but I didn't notice that he said that he was glad.

26. But he did say, however...
that he was glad they came over here. So, it's an encouragement of sorts.

What it tells me is that DU really does get to him. He'd like to have his drug addiction in the category of "Don't ask - don't tell".

I know that statement is going to anger some, but I'm sick and tired of hearing about Rush every goddamn day. We have some really sick obsession with this man when there are far, far, far, FAR more important stories out there deserving attention.

14. Yes and no
He is sending people here for a reason and it might not be a bad idea to welcome those people by explaining why he is afraid of us and says he wants to shut us down (or words to that effect). Since Rush visits here and he supposedly has a large audience perhaps there is a possibility that Rush can get an education here. Aside from that, who knows why he is sending us so many new visitors? Someone suggested that his attempts to shut us down may be a manifestation of the paranoid phase of his addiction, that sounded very likely to me.

Whatever it is, those new visitors need an introduction to what really worries Rush. Rome wasn’t built in a day we may begin to introduce Rush’s audience to the truth by exposing Rush for what he is, then they may question other beliefs they hold at face value. There certainly would be not harm done by trying.

That said, Traitorgate is a much bigger deal, no doubt about it. How many Dittoheads think that Ambassador Wilson’s opinion of who the criminal is matters? How many Dittoheads think that if Wilson himself is wrong about facts that Wilson’s mistakes about the identity of the leaker somehow vindicate the criminal in the Whitehouse? This may be a golden opportunity to let people know that disclosing classified information is a crime even if the CIA operative is married to someone who disagrees with the President.

17. Misguided
No one who comes here becuase Rush asked them to is going to be moved by anything we say, except by the ammount of hate and anger we throw around which of course only reinforces there misconceptions about us.

I'm so weary of Rush being the story. He is not worth that much time. By giving him so much time we in effect elevate him to a level of legitimacy that he does not deserve. The coolest thing we could ever do is just blow him off, and ingore it.

28. Under normal circumstances I would be in total agreement.
But since his addiction has become publicly known he is vulnerable. It is because his political views have gone unchallenged for over a decade his influence has spread. If there were real debate or if he could be questioned on the show it would be best to ignore him. The sad fact is that the people listen to him and think that since no one questions him what he says must be true. It never dawns on them that they have been bamboozled.

You are right that we don’t always present the best face for Democrats here with some of the fighting that goes on. It is also possible that an element of the reason he is sending people here is to see our dirty laundry. But since they are here we should let them know some basic facts about their hero, maybe one or two of them will start to question what they thought was true. Who knows?

23. Because no matter how "successful" he becomes,
how much money he makes, how much his weight fluctuates, how many famous "friends" he has or how deep his influence goes with his Didiots, he's still the same loser he was as a kid. Interviews with David and his mom have spelled that out. And like any spoiled, unpopular brat his first reaction to his unpopularity is to kick over the other kids' sandcastle.

The narcotic abuse, multiple failed marriages and ceaseless boasting are classic symptoms of a deep-rooted unhappiness. And the level of both bullshit and hypocrisy he cranks out can't come from a balanced mind. The guy is to be pitied.

On a slight tangent: how the hell can he vociferously support the Cuba embargo while simultaneously boasting about his enjoyment of their fine (albeit illegal) cigars???
