Has anyone read the book "Bad Boy: The Life and Politics of Lee Atwater?"

It is out of print but there are some used copies available on amazon.com. In case you don't know, Atwater was Karl Rove's mentor, and Bush Sr's 1988 campaign manager, who manufactured the Willie Horton thing. He invented modern personal destruction politics. Fortunatly, he died of a brain tumor before he was able to help Bush Sr against Clinton in 1992. He really sounds like a fascinating character. Does anyone know much else about him?

1. He admired Machiavelli

in an abnormal sort of way.
He hated Michael Dukakis and black people.
Lee Atwater was your typical repukkke terrorist type.

2. His philosophy is alive and well in the brain of Rove....maybe the end

result will be the same....forgive me but these people who thrive on the destruction of others deserve pain and suffering in relation to what they have caused.

4. And in the brain of Ralph Reed , Georgia GOP Chairman

He's doing Georgia politics now for the Repukes (of course).

Georgia GOP Chairman Ralph Reed was not an invisible man before Tuesday's victories. (this was Election 2002 in Georgia)

But the shadow he cast on the national political scene was short and slight compared to the figure he cut as head of the Christian Coalition, a group he left half a decade ago.

Winning changes all that ... right?

For Reed the answer is "yes" and "no." The conventional wisdom says the successes guarantee him a top spot in the national party. They also may have saved his job. Without the victories, the party faithful would have been left with the memory of four embarrassing primary losses directed by one of Reed's proteges, losses that tainted his leadership.

Reed once said of his political strategy: "I want to be invisible. I do guerrilla warfare. I paint my face and travel at night. You don't know it's over until you're in a body bag. You don't know until election night."

destroy, humiliate, obliterate the GOP. THAT is what we have to do, otherwise we will keep loosing seats

But he paved the way for the karl roves of the party of greed.

Don't know if true, but I did read that after he got cancer? and was just about to die, he said he
was ruthless, and maybe he was trying to get right with his maker before judgement day. Who knows
I can't comprehend what drives some to the desparate drive for more and more and more, when they
already got so much already. It's like they get possessed with greed. In the end, they got to know
we all are powerless. They got someone higher up and nothing will get them out from having to account
for all the unaccounted actions that executive privledge and national security blabber has protected the cowards
for soooooooo long.

6. He devised pushpolling and palled around with Rove and Bush in the 70s

and 80s, pulling dirty tricks for the elder Bush.

He is scum, and all associated with him are scum.
