CIA goes to WAR with White House
This excellent editorial is from DU, I just wanted to float it to make sure everyone knows about it.

The Great Spark Hunt
October 10, 2003
By Raul Groom
"We feel like the peasants with torches and pitchforks. The robber barons aren't going to be allowed to get away with this." - Larry Johnson, former CIA analyst, referring to the Plame leak

It was a big week for beasts rising up to devour their masters. Seigfried and Roy's tiger finally got fed up and took a swing at the silly magicians who've been parading him around in a demeaning outfit for years, sending one of them to the hospital with serious injuries. Gray Davis, poster-child for New Democrat milquetoast inoffensiveness, went gurgling out of the Governor's mansion in California on a wave of dissatisfaction so colossal that it swept into office a ridiculous babbling man-mountain who quite clearly has absolutely no idea about much of anything at all.

Another guy with no idea is George W. Bush, who summed his presidency up with uncharacteristic eloquence yesterday, observing astutely, "I don't have any idea." It was a moment of rare candor for the president, coming no doubt after a period of deep self-reflection, and we all should applaud him for finally having the courage to face reality.

1. All I can say is...
Yes, the CIA might be "going to war" with the WH but please remember the control that the Bushistas have over this organization.
I am rather confident that Bush Sr is working the background to defend his "boy wonder" son. But then again...maybe Bush Sr no longer holds the power he once had...

Either way...this could get ugly.

3. Read most of it...
at this point it can only be considered "hopeful speculation". IMHO, the CIA and the FBI are tools wielded by the power holders...of both sides of the political fence.
We'll see what transpires but I still contend that if there is another "staged event" before 11/04...then all bets are off that this country will recompose itself.

Case in point...Cheney blabbering about the so-called "terrorists" conteplating the "killings of hundreds of thousands of Americans".
I don't know about you...but this has a hidden but direct threat to any critics of this administration. Literally: we want this country...and there is NOTHING that you can do about it.

5. Cheney comes out of his hole every three weeks to blather the same
thing. They made a huge mistake whe they blamed the CIA for the fiascos in Afganistan and Iraq, and for blaming them for 9-11.

4. There is only one point in this article with which I would argue...
...and it is a MAJOR point. The author states that Tenet is a "weak CIA Director". Nothing could be more distant from the truth, and the Bushies are learning that the hard way. Here's the paragraph in question:

"Thus the President has essentially no control over the agency, except that which he is able to exert by proxy through the CIA Director, whom he appoints. To put it gently, George Tenet will likely not be remembered as one of the most influential directors in the agency's history, and was in any case appointed by Bush archenemy William Jefferson Clinton. Making matters worse, so much worse, is the fact that the administration tried unsuccessfully to throw Tenet to the wolves several weeks back. What they have now is a weak CIA Director with no incentive to be loyal to the administration heading up an uncontrollable intelligence agency that's fed up and out for blood. Oops."

Point #1: If Tenet was as weak as the author claims, Dubya would have replaced him long ago...at about the same time as he and his merry band of NeoCons occupied the centers of American Government.

Point #2: Tenet has a very long history with American intelligence. His educational background in Foreign Service and International Affairs made him a prime candidate for work in the intelligence community. I suspect that Tenet was recruited by the CIA at some point while he was still in school. His first job was with the American Hellenic Institute, Washington, DC, as Research Director <http://www.ahiworld.com/history.pdf>. This is, IMHO, a classic CIA front operation, one which allowed Tenet to travel while supposedly representing AHI's interests. There is no doubt that his Greek heritage helped him in that part of the world while he learned his craft.

Point #3: Take a good look at the folowing facts: 1) Tenet was confirmed as Director of the CIA by the "unanimous vote by both the Senate Select Committee on Intelligence and the full Senate". 2) "He also was responsible for coordinating all interagency activities concerning covert action." 3) "Staff Director of the Senate Select Committee on Intelligence for over four years". In addition to the relationships he has developed with those organizations, he has no doubt developed excellent relationships with strong factions in the DOJ, the Pentagon, the military, the State Department, and the mainstream media (Operation Mockingbird).

Point #4: I took the trouble not too long ago to put together a resume on George Tenet. The man is STRONGLY CONNECTED to say the least. Here is Tenet's resume:

Yale grad and Bonesman. Rhodes Scholar.

6. WOW!!!!!
That's an EXCELLENT article!!! I haven't ever read (or even heard of) the book WhiteOut that Raul Groom suggests but I certainly will now!

I'm glad you pointed this article out ... I have been wondering what in the hell the Boy King was thinking, messing around with the CIA like that (and/or allowing anyone in his administration to). I just kept thinking that this time, his arrogance (and stupidity) might just get the better of him. I hope, I hope, I hope this author is correct in his assertion that "The Bush Administration is going down." Couldn't happen to a nicer guy ...

7. Good cop, bad cop. That's all it is.
Remember how the 'cabal' controls all sides of an issue and all sides of the political spectrum. We only think there are two parties; we only think there are pros and cons...
