If there is a just god, there is no sympathy for Rush Limbaugh. For someone like Bush to call him a "great American hero" draws an unbridgeable dividing line. Two separate universes of right and wrong. But it's not about him. They were all conned and deluded by that fat-head asshole into believing their worse fantasies and instincts were not only acceptable but virtuous. 19. As a recovering addict, I am trying to have compassion for Rush.

I know and regret the terrible things I did when I was an active addict. I am also trying not to take his inventory for him.

That said, however: if Rush's behavior - and not merely his drug use - does not change after treatment, then I will say "so long" and "good riddance." I have no intention of contributing to his abusive behavior through codependence. He does have a lot of amends to make, but if he tries to make his recovery another slogan for the right, I'll know he is not in recovery, but is simply abstaining - and he will be back on the drugs in no time flat.
