Last night on CA local new: a happy talk story about how logging industry

has been able to grow more trees than they remove.

Now, I heard hear that one of Arnold's big things is going to be to turn over logging rights (a natural resource -- the wealth of CA -- which belongs to the people) to private companies at below-market values, so they can get huge profits off the destruction of public wealth, while the citizens of CA get ripped off (ie, one more transfer of public wealth right to the top of the ladder where Arnold and his Republican cronies are standing).

Well, I can't remember the last time I saw a news story about logging in CA, so it was a little jarring when I saw it. But this happy talk story was, essentially saying, "Hey, CA, can you believe this embarrassment of riches we have in the forests. There are TOO MANY trees now!"

That was considered a NEWS story. You know what it really was? That's how the media is going to continue to campaign for Arnold. That was just a little media manipulation of the public conscience to make CA'ians think, when they hear Arnold is giving the trees away to private corporations, that we didn't need them anyway. We had too many.
