Just had to share this. The whole fake-letters issue irritates me beyond words -- more so when it's obvious that the war crusaders are incapable of seeing (or simply refuse to acknowledge) the complete lack of ethics in "astroturfing."
First, read the doublethink entry here:

There's something on my shoe. It's black, and squishy and smelly. Oh, yeah, it's a lefty loon.
The autor of the aptly named blog doublethink seems to believe that writing a newspaper is wrong. <snip> doubklethink quotes from the article, and seems to think that this was an evil thing. The paper found that six of the seven soldiers they could contact agreed with the letter. Then, doublethink takes a shot at me,
Now, who's going to tell this guy that "Sgt. Shawn M. Grueser" is a figment of some liar's imagination?
<snip>
doublethink feels that one guy who doesn't remember signing it outweighs the other five who did. And the guy he so valiantly defends agrees with the letter. So, his entire premise seems to be that since he hates the war, soldiers shouldn't send letters home.

Oh, and, doublethink: (image here) It's a big pussy, on his back with his legs spread. I'm just saying, you know.
Absolutely
briliiant rebuttal, no? :eyes:
