10. i'm conccerned about dean's Q factor, too.

in TV, a person's Q factor means his/her appeal to the audience. it has very little to do with competence, intelligence, or even past success.

the feeling you're getting is probably caused by your TV screen close-up image of dennis. Q is very, very powerful. that's why i'm worried about dean. he looks stiff, doesn't control his facial reactions (during debates), and he has a very short neck. he looks like his collar is too big and has been tightened with his tie. (i wonder if he was a wrestler when he was young; they develop thick necks.)

remember how good al gore looked next to the freak monkey?
unfortunately, the freak monkey has been practicing for 3 years, and he looks better now ($3000 suits with excellent cut and drape; botox to control the smirk) than he did back then.

i keep visualizing a dean/bush TV debate, and i'm afraid dean's honesty and inelligence will not penetrate the powerful Q factor.

I live in Ca. and the recent recall and Arnold's win ,prove just how shallow the voters are. Now if they where so unhappy with Davis , and wanted him replaced ,you would think an exprienced person with very good credentials on economics would be the way to go .Instead we get an entertainer with a bankrupt resturant chain (Planet Hollywood) I have to take issuse also with the person who's post said Al Gore was creepy ! What the heck is creepy about Al Gore, his recent speeches show he is more inline with our beliefs on the war in Iraq and much more. He has shown that all of the sterio types the media tried to pin on him are 100% wrong. Creepy , is the idiot we got stuck with running our country ,(running it into the ground). Iam disgusted with many people at this and other pro Dem web sites that continue to eat their own .Al Gore is one of the best the Dems have, and that is a positive ,not a negative ,as long as you look at his record instead of what color suit he is wearing ! People say, "He doesn't look like a President." And to an extent, it's an accurate observation. Most of our Presidents in the modern age have been at least nominally "attractive." Not Nixon, who was a hideous jowly beast. LBJ apparently had a far more powerful and overwhelming presence in person than he did on television. But Eisenhower had that winning smile, Kennedy made the ladies swoon, Carter had a mouth full of pearly whites, Reagan had the "friendly old grandfather" thing, and of course... there was Clinton (charisma to the max).

What America saw (or sees) in the Bushes is a mystery to me. I guess their stupidity is endearing.

It is a point to consider. Many voters do take appearance and personality into account when electing Presidents. Of course, Kucinich's talk about a Department of Peace, while certainly heartfelt, makes him an easy target.

I don't know about Kucinch; I agree with a great deal of what he says, but at the same time I realize that his chances of winning are small. It's a consequence of the Age of Television.

I hate to agree with you, but I do.

All of my friends are supporting Dennis and started actively working for him long before I started paying attention to the candidates. I was eagerly looking forward to hearing him.

And then I finally got to see our candidates at the debate before last.

I was stunned to find that I reacted...viscerally and cerebrally...most negatively to Dennis.

Creepy? I don't think I would choose that word. It had to do more with his tone, I think, ..although I admit I am guilty as accused...I just have a shallow aversion..plus the fact that as violently as I opposed the Iraq operation, I believe we have to stay there and do what it takes to repair the damage that we have done.

I am happy he is in Congress and I am happy that he is putting his ideas before the public...

But I simply have a more averse reaction to him...even more so than Joe Lieberman.

It's like choosing a mate, isn't it? Our cellular connection is overriding...and sometimes not intellectually satisfying...much less explainable.

Until I heard him speaking on some of the recent debates with the other candidates.

Not so much what he said as much as how he says it. Comes off like some sort of nut case. Kucinich is one of the worst speakers I've ever heard. Very rough and unpolished delivery. Almost as bad as Bush Jr.

dennis isn't 'political,' which means that he tells the truth as he sees it instead of following the rules of politics.
to be effective 'politically,' you have to frame every statement so that the listener reaches the conclusion you want them to reach. sort of like the dad in the big fat greek wedding movie: plant the idea and hope that the listener thinks he has figured out the solution to a complex problem.

dennis' honesty could be his undoing in this race. sad, isn't it?

I like him and what he stands for but I have said since the beginning he cant beat Bush. No way...and that priority #1 this time. Bush is ruining our country and all that is great about it. We MUST beat him! I am still supporting Dean and I like Clark a lot too. Those two could beat Bush and have the qualities to be great leaders. Kucinich is not a very good speaker, and he always has a snide thing to say about the other candidates. Dean and Clark are the only ones who have competed on their own merits and not constantly tearing down the others. Thats an important character quality to me.

really immature. And the people that post them obviously have nothing real to add to the debate.

I think Dennis understands what many people have been complaining about and that is that many of the Dems have become too meek and let themselves get run over. I've heard so many people complain about how they are to afraid to shake the tree. Then along comes someone who refuses to roll over and play dead for this administration, and has since the very beginning been giving them hell, and this is how you treat him. When people are asking him a question, he is focused on what they are saying, purposefully listening to their words or concerns, not worried if his face looks too mean.

Dennis could hold his own against Bush in a debate better than anyone of them. He's a member of some important congressional committees and knows what's going on, but he's an insider without being an "insider." He was calling this administration on their intentions toward Iraq long before they declared...February 2002....when others were too afraid not to go along with the evil that lives in the White House. He's not afraid and he doesn't stumble over his tongue all the time. He's direct and truthful.

You people don't deserve a candidate like Dennis. You might have to think above the level of the superficialities you now live with.
