Just in. Israel joins the new arms race with a submarine capable of launching nukes.

8. So?
So maybe we should go bomb the fuck out of them, whaddya say? I mean, they are in the Middle East. They're ruled by someone that many consider to be a madman. They have WFMD (weapons of freakin' mass destruction), all of the big 3, Chem, Bio, Nuclear.

God knows, but they may even have balsa wood glider technology in Israel. 45 minutes, buddy. 45 minutes.

Do you do more than one-word interrogatories, or is that the limit?

Thanks.

2. Another fear-based thread
Israel's had nukes since the 1970's, never used them even though they were invaded in 1973, and came close to losing that war. Israel having nukes does not worry or scare me. Unless you're Iran, Egypt, or another country hostile towards Israel, you shouldn't worry either. Nukes keep the peace. Israel hasn't been invaded since 1973.

7. Nukes keep the peace, huh?
Well, as far as I know, Israel, since they haven't admitted being a nuclear power, has avoided signing all nonproliferation and other related international treaties. Yeah, Bush has been killing those treaties, but he's a madman.

By the way, even if you vehemently hate Iran, Egypt, or other (Muslim) countries, you should become very worried should Israel ever be stupid enough to use one of their nuclear weapons on any of these countries. And I don't suppose you think there's any point in being concerned about how the citizens of those countries feel, given that the posession doesn't worry or scare you.

3. Not good
Israel shouldn't have nukes, neither should any country. These things need to go.

4. Israel's had nukes for a long time
They deny but everyone knows it. The French helped them build nuclear reactors back int he 1960's and this paved the way for their nuclear capabilities.

9. I'd Rather Trust Israel
with nuclear weapons then a muslim culture who forces children to strap bombs on themselves and kill civilians.

10. Thank god you don't get to make those decisions
Is it better that Israel kills civilians with rockets? Do you really think so? Think what you want, but it just won't change the fact that Israel is run by a murderous FUCK almost as bad as the murderous FUCK that runs this country.

13. Sure he is
And the Palestinian people? Who is it killing their civilians?

By the way, I do think there's plenty of blame to be placed on the Palestinian side as well, but I'm one of those predictable "bleeding heart" liberals who doesn't like to see the underdog repeatedly stomped. And the Palestinians are assuredly the underdogs in this mess.

14. Blame on both sides- I agree
but I don't think Israel is killing civilians on purpose.

15. On purpose? Maybe not.
But I do believe they're very indifferent to the death of civilians, e.g., hey, there's bad guy #437 in an apartment building with 10 other people. Open fire. And so on.

17. Let's congratulate ourselves
We had an Israeli/Palestinian disagreement without going all ballistic, as so often happens with this topic.

If I were an Israeli citizen, I would feel terrorized, would be afraid for my family to step outside, and god forbid they ever step foot on a bus. However, as that same Israeli citizen, I wouldn't feel one iota safer knowing that my country posessed nuclear weapons. I know this because as an American citizen, I don't feel the slightest bit safer knowing that my country has thousands upon thousands of nuclear weapons. Quite the opposite, really.

On the bright side, the Palestinians don't need to worry about the nuclear threat. They're way too close. And for that matter, isn't Syria a little too close for comfort also, in regard to fallout?

Anyway, thanks for the civil discourse.
