Peter Werbe just mentioned DU on the air
http://www.wrif.com/ He was talking about Rush and referred to when Rush talked to his listeners about DU.

He's interviewing Greg Palast at 1 A.M. I don't know what time zone he's in. Central, I think.

3. Great - that's only 11 here in mtn time
We love our prog radio!

Thanks again for that link last night. I liked Clay's program. Now, I want to hook up some speakers for the bedroom so I can listen to the good talk and read in bed. We have so many pairs of speakers around here.

4. speaker substitute -- Make every radio in your home a speaker
Somebody here posted this:

Buy a FM transmitter from Radio Shack for about $20.

Plug the transmitter into your computer's sound output (speaker connection)

Your computer is now a tiny broadcast station. Any FM radio nearby can pick up the signal.

If you buy a "Y" connector (about $3), you can have your computer's speakers and the FM transmitter plugged in at the same time.

5. YOW!
Thanks so much. We'll look into that this week.

I've been a radio freak since I was a kid back in the late 40s. My folks made sure I had a radio on my bedroom end table. Old time radio wans't old, it was happening.

6. If you were a radio freak as a kid, then you might want to do this...
I was a radio freak, too. And since I've gotten a good shortwave radio, I am in heaven. I have a Grundig YB400PE. Not only do I get great SW reception with a wire thrown outside, it also has SSB, so I listen to hams and marine/air reports which are fun. Currently, on 3805 at around midnight here in MT, I listen to a couple of guys back East (near Philly and DC) every night. It's great fun!

A big coup for me was getting Voice of Turkey in clear enough to really listen to a few days ago (I'm near El Paso, so I think that's pretty good!)

Also, for more internet radio programs for the left....check out my radio page....just updated again!! (URL BELOW) Many links arranged hour by hour for weekdays and weekends....

20. Good thinking
There are products on the market designed to transmit sound from the computer to radios throughout the house.

And they sell for a hefty amount of change.

Meanwhile, a little Radio Shack transmitter will do it for much less (I've made good use of RS over the years in my little projects).

What kind of FM transmitter is it?

Thanks.

21. Go to Best Buy
Look for the Soundfeeder wireless transmitter. $20.

It's made to play from portables into a car radio but it does the trick for computers and home reception too. Can receive all over the house and even into the back yard.

22. I don't know...I paraphrased a DU post from about 6 months ago.
I distinctly remember the FM transmitter being a $20 item.

14. As I hear about these shows
I listen and either call in or send an email right away. Just to break the ice. I caled Guy James a few weeks ago, first time I listened. Such a nice person. Like talking to your favorite relative. Peter Werbe is so easy to listen to since he's so at ease with himself.

Greg Palast coming up real soon. This should be good!

Btw, did you read the L.A. Times online? The front page has an article on the background of their Arnold gropenator outing. They say that they're going to devote a lot more yime to doing investigative reporting in the future. I hope they tap into Palast.

Bye!

15. Greg Palast on now.
Just said that the number of people in California that voted "NO" on the recall is greater than the number of people that voted for Arnold. Sound familiar? :kick:

18. That means Gore would have won by 3 million votes, at minimum, if..
Edited on Mon Oct-13-03 12:42 AM by TruthIsAll
we assume he nets 1.5 million of the spoiled votes and 1 million of the Nader votes. Add the 2.5 million to the 550,000 he won by to get the 3 million.

And we aren't even including the disenfranchised (95,000 in Florida alone)voters.

Hell, Gore probably would have won by 5 million votes in a clean election.

His opponent took a last minute nose dive when they hit him with the last minute dirty politics. ... But, oh wait - the R's don't do dirty. Gag me.
