Matthews will interview Edwards tomorrow (Monday) on Hardball
That should be a corker. Tweety's a naked partisan these days, and I presume he's going to be as much of an attack dog as Greenfield showed himself to be to Edwards in the last debate.

What I'd like you all to focus on here is the finesse, control and decorum with which Edwards generally handles himself; these are rare talents, and necessary for the first President in the post "the-hell-with-the-rest-of-you-peons" era.

(Oh, and those policies are mighty good, too...)

Please give him a watch and a listen; I'd appreciate it.

1. Exactly
Edwards has a mild-manored nature with a ton of all american boy charisma. Unfortunately, he doesn't have enough experience, let alone LOOK old enough to be president- which is why I think he'd make the PERFECT VP.

Give him 8 years as VP and then 8 years as president. That would be the greatest thing that could happen to America.

9. can you elaborate?
does he not have enough experience to govern or to be elected?

Bush had the same number of years in elected office as Edwards does now, and more than half of independant voters voted for Bush.

A big part of his appeal is that he's the right acceptable balance between outsider and insider.

Why don't you post which candidate you support. Edwards has life experience. He is the perfect candidate to contrast with Bush, not whoever the nominee is in 8 years

2. Thanks for the heads-up
This is from Harvard and I assume there will be questions from the audience. Edwards is the best of the candidates I've seen in the town hall format. He's smart and responds to the question and the questioner. This should be good.

3. It always makes me a little nervous when Edwards gets coverage like this
I know the media doesn't want to give him any coverage, so I think if they're doing this it's some kind of setup. They have some kind of hijack planned. But then I realize that Tweety is the setup. He's going to be a bastard and then they'll have some stupid spin.

4. Edwards! The other white meat!
Hey, ya never know. The monarchists aren't as competent as some people here would have you think. Sure, they're rightfully afraid of him and have been smothering his campaign with silence, broken only by the occasional sniping at his youth, inexperience or falling poll numbers, but maybe they're willing to throw some attention his way in order to thwart Clark or Dean.

Don't just discount that last possibility out of hand; we've seen this administration thrash about desperately and in an uncoordinated way any number of times recently. Maybe they'll try to deflect attention away from the "front runners" and actually give this guy a bit of a break despite themselves.

The only thing I fear regarding Edwards is the sluggishness, unresponsiveness and general ineffectiveness of his campaign team so far.

5. Chris "tweety:" matthews
is a brain dead prick. He says what his master wants. He quit thinking 5 years ago. Clinton's penis and W's flight suit have so overwhelmed him he can no longer think independently.

I hate him and his hostility to all democrats.

6. So this is not a repeat?
I recall Edwards appearing on an earlier college tour program of Tweety's. Edwards was wonderful in that interview. I'm a Clark supporter and also a big fan of Edwards. I can hardly wait till tomorrow night.

Like Bill O., being on Tweety's show is supposed to prove something about the guest's fortitude. Frankly, I think it says more about the patience and tolerance of the guest and less about the host. Edwards is so smooth, he'll paint Tweety blue and throw him on the barn floor but the Tweet won't realize it till it's over.

7. New show
Last one was from an historically black college in NC (can't remember which one) and this one is from Harvard.

8. NC Central
The last time Edwards was on Hardball, it was broadcast from North Carolina Central University, an historically black instituion - at Edwards' insistence. Hardball wanted to do the show at Duke or University of North Carolina but Edwards insisted that it be done at NC Central in order to highlight the importance of HBCUs. This was the first and only time that Hardball featured a black school.

14. Going back for more, huh??
Edited on Mon Oct-13-03 08:41 AM by tjdee
John Edwards is a treasure to this party--regardless of what his campaign is doing or not.

He went on Hardball, it wasn't the greatest night he ever had, but the fact that he is going *back* on the show...that says something about him.

The Democratic Party had better find something for him to do, because if he goes back to private life, it will be a huge loss for us. He is best quality, as the saying from the Joy Luck Club goes.
