This is an email I recently got:
Dear Military Families Speak Out members: We have been getting many requests from radio, television, documentary film makers and newspaper reporters asking to speak with troops recently returned from Iraq. While we understand that many of our returned troops may not be willing to speak out at this point, or may not be able to speak out because of their military status, we also know that some of our returned troops are ready to talk about their experiences and their feelings about the war, and may be interested in such requests. If you have a loved one in the service (or who is leaving the service) who might be interested in such media requests, please let us know. As always, we will never give out anyone's name, phone number or other contact information. Instead, we will create a special list of those who might be interested in speaking out, and forward these requests to that list. The decision about whether or not to reply will be left to each individual. If you have any questions about this, feel free to email us here, or call us: Nancy Lessin at 617-320-5301 Charley Richardson at 508-277-9466. Also, here is the number of the GI Rights Hotline if you have any legal questions about troops speaking out: 1-800-394-9544.
