Troops Head Back to Iraq After Home Leave

.....

At the same time, some soldiers found that people back home did not understand fully how hard it has been in Iraq.

"If one person dies, five or six are getting wounded," said George. "People are only hearing about the one man who is killed."

Since Sept. 26, 6here has been one flight per day from Iraq with an average of 240 soldiers on board, said Lt. Col. Robert Hagen, an Army spokesman.

1. so true ...
"If one person dies, five or six are getting wounded," said George. "People are only hearing about the one man who is killed."

And that's the way the WH wants it; let people think that getting wounded is like getting shot on Gunsmoke or the A-Team, just tie a little tourniquet and everything is a-OK ... can't have images of blown off arms, legs, and eyes can we

2.  Too true. And we were all wondering
what the real numbers are for the maimed but still
breathing. At least now we know it is 5-6 per dead,
and 240 on a daily plane.

I know I despise Reps but am not sure if I also feel
hate.

We used to vote split tickets, hopefully voting for the
one who would do the least amount of damage. That is
now over. Straight Dem ticket from now on.

One of our state Reps went to the WH and met *
because this person is going to run against a
Dem Senator.

4. I can't believe they're going back...I'd blend into the woodwork
back here at home.

Of course, if anyone does this, it will be hushed up.

6. question for you kevin
Edited on Mon Oct-13-03 03:39 PM by Skittles
did you serve in the military? Or are you serving right now? I agree with you that soldiers cannot be allowed to go AWOL - like Bush did.

never mind Kevin, you say on another thread you are in the military. Do not make the mistake of thinking that DUers did not serve. I did, and so did plenty of others. I tell you what though - we are certainly more in tune to the reasons why Iraqis are killing our soldiers than you are.

9. OK Kevin
I'll give you the benefit of the doubt - stick around and learn something. I was a GI brat, born on a base and also served four years. I was never brainwashed the way a lot of GI's are and I hope you weren't either. Soldiers CAN teach DUers a lot but don't condescend to them; they don't like that any more than you do. Welcome to the DU.
