Is there some change in briefings about Iraq?
I tunred on the radio and only heard the tail end of something on the news. It was about how the president is up tight about all the bad news being reported by the press. The contention is that there is a concerted effort by the press to push bad news.

I got the impression that there was some change coming in the way the WH will be putting out information. Can someone clarify what this is all about?

1. yes, a PR offensive
emphasis on "offensive." :puke:

Part of the PR offensive was all the speeches by the Big Bushies last week.

I just heard today that Bush is going to give interviews to four regional news organizations today, out of dissatisfaction with the way the national networks are covering him. I guess they're not playing ball fully with Rove, they're "filtering", rather than giving the straight unadulterated White House message. In other words, he's frustrated that the networks are doing their jobs.

2. The bush* mis-administration....
....is now working to circumvent the mainstream national media in order to feed their propaganda directly to the armchair citizenry. In addition to a coordinated effort by bush*/republican reps to push the focused message that "everything is just peachy in Iraq", the bush*/republican propaganda machine is currently sending form letters supposedly from soldiers in Iraq to local newspapers reinforcing the lie that the USA is working wonderful miracles of democracy and liberation in Iraq. This propaganda effort is supposed to have a local grassroots appearance amd is aimed a undercutting the national and international media who actually have real sources inside Iraq.

It also appears that bush*/republicans are setting the stage to scapegoat Rummy Strangelove and the Pentagon.

5. It's an interesting strategy. Spin the idea that "truth" is "attack"
Didn't Bush do that during the campaign? If Gore said anything that was true, it was an attack.

6. NEW and IMPROVED!
PR!

The good little readers on MSGOP are already on board, repeatedly referring to "all the good news from Iraq."
