I double dog dare you.
to post a poll whicw would not measure Perty affiliation but DLC vs. "DNC" loyalty. Its a simple question but it certainly seems to me that in the year of sporadic posting I have done on DU... the chasm between the two is widening.

The distinctions are important and I just wonder a) if they are reconcilable or if it might result in an open schism should we lose the nest two elections.

Further seems to me that the rift between the Pat Robertson wing and then new Shwarzenegger wing of the GOP..... Are we headed down the same path or will we coalecse around "vanilla" candidates.

4. AU contraire!!
absolutely not. It is difficult to create that which already exist. I am just curious as to how deep the division is... Or on the other hand, to figure out whteher or not this is an issue which everyone wants to avoid.

I suspect it is the latter....but I honestly believe that while ignorance may be bliss..... putting our head in the sand, will hurt our beloved party in the long run.

I certainly have my views on "excite the base" vs. "Co-opt the moderate suburbanites" debate but those views flip flop daily (haha). I jusr think the dichotomy is not easily reconciled and I wonder if it might lead some day to some potentially scary conclusions.
