When will our Democratic Congress stand up and say NO!!
I now have to believe the Democrats who are writing these blank checks but wagging their shame on you finger at the same time are the ones creating the most harm in our country by refusing to FIGHT.

They talk out of one side of their mouth while signing the legislation into law. A few Senatorial candidates running for president come to mind. They refuse to stand up and say no to the Administration and the Republican leadership and as a consequence are doing more harm to this country by allowing these pieces of legislation like the 87 Billion, that gosh, gee whiz, you know we just have to give in again, but JUST THIS ONCE....to be passed.

I love what one Democratic representative had the audacity to say, "Oh, well, we sure are going to hold them accountable and hold their feet to the fire"....

I think he's mistaken us for someone who believes the Democratic leadership anymore.

What is up here folks? Are most of them chicken? Are have most resorted to whoring themselves by selling out to the highest bidder, special interests and lobbyists, so they dont have to worry about their constituents any longer?

They are allowing our country to essentially loot and steal taxpayer money to make more of a profit for the wealthiest one percent and the corporations. Am I wrong, is there another way to look at their pathological enabling of the Republican party and corporate interests?

How do we reach our leadership? The best and only way at this point is to have fair elections which means without electronic voting. Read the most recent article at Wired.com regarding this subject.

1. um...we're in the minority
All democrats could vote NO, drop their pants and moon the GOP on the House floor...

The bill would still pass.

3. umm...a true opposition would have introduced the American people...
to the notion that the war was wrong

Instead, we had too many Democrats appeasing Bush and his criminal objectives.

4. oh, stop making sense!
;) Turn to C-SPAN and you can see some Democratic Senators standing up and speaking out. No, not all of them, but some. In the end, it's the Republicans that shut them down.

7. Some folks are indeed speaking up
I wonder where that liberal media I keep hearing so much about is? You'd think they'd rush (no pun intended) to report this sort of dissent, wouldn't you?

10. Thats a good point. The media virtually ignores the positive things Dems
do.

Its difficult, but they are going to have to stop backing down because they are pushing us all back towards one very high ledge that has one hell of a drop off.

There are dilatory motions that can be used in the House.

Make some noise, be obnoxious, be loud. At least TRY IT.

It worked for the Republicans - they did it in 2002 and they gained and we lost.

I am SICK AND TIRED of Daschle. No more MR. NICE GUY!!! I want a fighter in there.

8. WHY DONT THEY? It would be better than the fake foot to the fire excuse.
They could walk out like Texas, eventually Americans would get it.

THEY COULD COMMUNICATE WITH US, THE CITIZENS.

And not at us. I

How many times do we hear the condescending phrase "the American people want this or that" which actually I hear more of from Republicans, but its insulting to hear certain so-called leaders repeat it like a broken record when they, mainly Republicans know essentially nothing of what Americans really need and want.

Certainly the Democratic leadership is more in tune with Americans than Republicans, but the Dems too have become less and less interested in performing what is in the best interest for all Americans.

Im asking for answers as well. But if they dont take the time to meet more with their constituents and try to build relationships there, then I have to wonder who they are answering to.

We have sent them message after message that only seems to fall on deaf ears. This 87 billion is amazing even to be entertained of being passed. Doe anyone have any idea where the money went on the first Iraq expedition? I would be interested to know.

2. They are also
looting and stealing from the Iraqis by not letting them rebuild and make some of their own cash. I am certain that everything we are paying for they will also pay for as if they have not already paid the big price.

9. There is a little thing called a "filibuster", but the pink-tutus won't
Edited on Mon Oct-13-03 01:44 PM by Flying_Pig
use it as often as it needs to be used, given the Republcians have adopted fascist tactics. Then, there are those Dems who are outright complicit, and there's a number of those. Look at the Iraq War vote, and the recent Syrian sanctions vote in the House (among others), to see who they are.

I have long advocated, that the Dems need to shut the damned place (Congress) down, unless we get some truth, and some fair-dealing. As it is, this is nothing more than a fascist, rubber-stamp Congress, thanks to the Republicans. The filibuster is the one tool, besides elections, that could change this.
