Time to quit kidding ourselves about the Green Haters
Edited on Mon Oct-13-03 12:55 PM by Paragon
Yeah...let's call them "traitors" and blame the Chimp selection on Nader. Then let's piss off all the Cornejo Californians and make all of Arianna's people angry. Then they'll KNOW their voices will never be heard!

Ah, the Democratic Party of the Green/Nader/Cornejo/Arianna Haters...Party of Inclusiveness! Remember...if you're not with us right now, you're with the terrorist Republicans!

3. Unless
you live in Florida or New Hampshire and voted for Nader, your vote didn't make a difference.

4. Yep, I hate the Green-Communist tactics,
attitude of entitlement and generally coming around various Democratic events as though they were welcome and contributing. Green-Communists do not help the liberal cause, they in fact hurt it. They are not welcome. They are selfish narcissists who helped to elect Bush. They have not changed, and they won't change. If things can't be perfect and their way, they are content to see things destroyed. And if the Green-Communists don't like that I have the freedom to say these things at the DU, well too bad, the dictatorship of the proletariate is never coming to America.

8. Thanks for helping me better understand why the German communists
were unable to join forces with the Social Democrats (SPD) in the 1930's. There really are, among today's US Democrats, many people who could be considered "social fascists."

9. That's ridiculous
Edited on Mon Oct-13-03 01:18 PM by Armstead
I'm not crazy about the Greens in a political sense, because I think it's important to have a united front these days against the GW/GOP/Right Wing Machine.

But I also think the Greens are the only ones (well, almost the only ones) who are telling the damn truth about what has happened to this country, and what is needed to fix it. Greens may be too radical for you, but to call them "communists" is ridiculous.

The centrist Democrats have long ago given up the fight for basic principles of liberalism. Instead they have adopted a mushy stance that neither appeals to conservatives, wins over the "swing voter" or excites their liberal and progressive base.

Until the Democrats start talking more like the Greens in attacking the real concentration of power and wealth that has occurred and the undermining of democracy, then the Greens will continue to siphon off energy that should be gong into the Democratic Party.

(Not addressed to Rich, but to the post above.)

10. The numbers don't lie. The Greens can only interrupt the momentum
of any semblance of liberalism.

These figures say it all

http://www.goodgovernment.org/swingstate/stats/index.htm

Nader made sure Democrats could not sieze the momentum of the Clinton economy. As long as Greens campaign in states competitive for Democrats, Republicans will win.

http://www.goodgovernment.org/swingstate/stats/index.htm

Nader can explain himself all he wants regarding his attendance and sharing the stage at meetings with the likes of Grover Nordquist, but the numbers don't lie. He has used the Greens, and since so many of them are young, gullible and idealistic, they will eat it like candy. When they have to go get a real job and there aren't any, they can complain to Aunt Ralph that the cupboard is bare.

If their virulent anti-corporate policies were followed, unemployment would match many Latin American nations.

They're not here yet, but they will be soon to kick your whiny green little ass.

They're out having their jackboots polished in time for the next DNC meeting.

6. Listen, I voted for Nadir (sic) and I TOTALLY regret it.
I'm sorry that I helped Bush steal the White House. I've voted green since I could legally vote, and thought voting for Ralph would send a message to the increasingly corporate-controlled Dem leadership...I WAS WRONG IN 2000. Now I'm doing all I can to help a Democrat win the White House. I'm a regular poster here, I read bartcop and Buzzflash everyday, I'm contributing money to my favorite candidate, and going to meetups, I attend protests, I spread the news about things I've heard on this board to everybody I know, I sign every petition to undermine the Bush administration evry chance I get, I donated to the ImpeachBush website, I use my money selectively so as not to contribute to the coffers of republican-owned companies and evil multi-nationals, but first and foremost, I AM DETERMINED TO SEE A DEMOCRAT IN THE WHITE HOUSE IN 2004!!

I'd like to say that there are a hell of a lot of people like me, and we're not the enemy, guys. Most of us who consider ourselves greens only vote green in locl elections, and we've learned our lesson about voting green in the natioanl elections when the stakes are so high (I was CERTAIN Gore was gonna win in 2000, and I could not forsee Bush stealing the election). A little forgiveness would be nice, you know? I mean, we're in the same boat. I forget who originally said this, but there's a saying: "We are awash in a sea of blood and death and the least we can do is wave at each other."

I'd like to se the green grudge-holding and bashing stop. It's counter-productive. Just my two cents, thank you for listening.

14. I forgive you.
You 'get it', and I've no desire to be churlish; Greens have legitimate political aspirations, and there's nothing wrong with that. The problem that *many* Greens fail to see is that the 2004 election is as stark a choice as has ever faced the voters in the history of the Republic: rhetoric and bluster aside, the choice is the continuation/reclamation of our sovereign right to be a self-governing nation vs. the opposite. It is no more complex than that, at its core.

I understand also that Greens have policy differences with the Dems, but we can ONLY sort those out *if we remove * and his evil minions* from the WH and the Congress. As Granny D says (paraphrasing), "You must stand aside in 2004, and in doing so earn our respect."

7. apropos tv show
This fall on the hilarious new reality show, Count Your Blessings, we'll travel around the world to look at water privatization!

Here's how the show works: Lefty guest contestants will get "voted" off the plane, one by one, as they make negative remarks about global corporate dominance. The Final Survivor wins a hit of sodium pentothal, a songbook about Free Trade, and an ALL EXPENSES PAID TOUR OF BECHTEL AND MONSANTO HEADQUARTERS.

(sounds of cheering)

That lucky winner will be invited back into the mainstream party of his or her choice (doctor's note required. some side effects may be present.)!

Remember: that's this fall on prime time! You're not allowed to miss it!!!
