What is Phil Hendre?
I can't tell what this guy is. He's on the conservative LA Talk station 640 AM KFI....but right now he's bashing Rush who is on THE SAME NETWORK! Maybe he's just an attack all simpleton??

1. He's a prankster
Edited on Mon Oct-13-03 08:31 PM by 0rganism
I couldn't figure out his "politics" from listening to his show, because he's so damn sarcastic. Sometimes it's pretty funny stuff, too. Not the worst thing on talk radio, not by a long shot.

Caveat emptor: At first I thought Michael "Savage" Wiener was joking, too. I'm easy to fool that way.

2. I thought the same...until I heard him "talk the talk" for shrub & the war
He was as vocal as any...with his mind he could have challenged alot of minds...he didn't...he said things that made no sense and he showed his true stripes

3. Phil is a true 'independent'
He basically despises Neo-cons & the general hipocracy of the Republican party. However, he's in support of the war in Iraq. I dont listen to his show for his politics, anyways. I listen to him because he's funny as all hell.

4. he's a prankster but seems blind to the Iraq thing
his diatribes on the subject seem to come straight from the omigodterrorists underthe beds were at all out WAR fear school of thought.

Many otherwise logical people have bought into this fearmongering big time.

5. Phil Hendrie is the only show worth listening to on AM.
Notice his "guests". The discussion gets more and more outlandish, until the callers (real) get more and more outraged.

Ask him about Jay Santos.

8. Santos is good, definitely.
However :) He can't top some other folk like:

Ted Bell, owner of Ted's of Beverly Hills Steakhouse. Great slogan on that place, "At Teds, we wanna put our meat in your mouth"

R.C. Collins - Junior at Chatsworth High School - precocious kid with an opinion on everything from lowering the drinking age to Osama Bin Laden hanging out at a Blockbuster Video in Texas.

Bobbie Dooley (and her husband, Steve) - President of the Western Estates Homeowners Association .. Bobbie once decided to collect around the neighoborhood for a neighbor's vasectomy. The main reason being that Western Estates by-laws specifically state you MUST use your 5th bedroom as a media room or library - besides, "That stupid woman has enough children"

Steve Bosell - he tends to sue alot of people. Recently, he decided to sue his wife for answering a survey in a woman's magazine. Among the questions: "What is something you said last time you made love" - her answer "Ouch, your on my hair".

Vernon Dosier, High School Football coach: He doesn't put up with any attitude from his students. In fact, a few weeks ago, he punched one in the stomach a few times to 'deliver a message' to the rest of the team.

Larry Grover: President of the Conservatives of Kerin County. He blames Clinton for, among other things, his virginity.

Lloyd Bonafide, Korean War Veteran: Lloyd is so powerful (the remants of his amazing battles in Korea, would be my guess) he once "Fought his way off of hold" while speaking to a caller. Complete with an incredible HRRRRRRRRRRRRMMMMMMMPPPPPPPPPPHHHHHHHHH, There, I fought my way out of hold" sound.

Folks, once you Fight your way out of hold - that's it. That's your pinnacle.. there's nothing else to do. (I almost drove off the road when I heard it, too)

But Jay Santos of the Citizen's Auxiliary Police is my fave. Vernon Dozier is a close second. :-)

10. Malloy is funnier
but then again, he's not really on the "radio". Yet.

I can't listen to Phil Hendrie because that 'idiot lady' voice they use over and over annoys me.

9. Oh I miss him!
He was on a wingnut station here (Dallas) and was a total riot.

It's a parody of wingnut radio. Hilarious. He isn't on the radio here anymore, so I never heard his Iraq views.

His best "Guest" was Bobbie Dooley, President of the Western Estates Homeowners Association.

And some other "guest" who was "Organizing" something to go after retirees who drive motor homes, because they should be spending more time with their grandkids. Totally outrageous, and the callers totally fall for it.

:)
I was here in South Florida when Phil was really fine tuning his act before he hit the national stage. This was the last local market he worked in before he went out to L.A. (where he wound up getting syndicated). To do what Phil does takes just an insane amount of talent, timing, & general focus. Not to mention a fine sense of comedic effect.

16.  "It's not the size of the zucchini".
I haven't heard his show in a while but the show with the caller that was a lawyer making that point to the "guest" that was suing his neighbor over the size of the zucchini's he was growing in his garden was memorable.

You don't get it, do you? (I don't mean that rudely, btw)

That 'man' (as with all of Phil's guests) - is Phil, doing a voice.

14. He's an opportunist
I've listened to Phil for years and have most of his CDs. His wife, Maria Sanchez, was a very liberal talk show host at KFI too and then Sacramento. I think she influenced him somewhat at first. But once the war started, Phil joined the bandwagon. Sort of like Dennis Miller. Phil's skits are great, but his flip-flopping politics suck. He basically follows the 'support our troops' bull which is code for kiss Bush's hiney or be considered a traitor.

15. #1, Welcome to DU.
:) And yes, he does flip-flop alot, politically. That's why I try not to listen to him for political views. I just enjoy the mocking of the callers - that's the good stuff.

Yeah, I've heard Maria on the air (KFI streamed back then) - she was actually not bad at all. I'm still surprised Phil got married - but hey, to each their own :)
